The “WOW” gun of your collection?

I’m talking about interest from “casual” gun owners. An opportunity to show them something cool - in my case, a Smith revolver.

The first 3 I posted have all garnered me some interest at the range. The fourth one is just one I find interesting for it's history since it is a pretty early one.

Sorry if my post didn't exactly conform to your parameters - though it looks like some people like my "wow" examples... :D

Luger

1937 Mauser Nazi proof marked Luger that I bought from a WWII vet before he passed away, about clean as they come

Most of what I got would be military surplus rifles. And the handguns have "character". However the nicest one would be my S&W model 24-3 in 44 special with the 3" barrel and combat grips. Around here glocks, and just about any semi automatic pistol are extremely popular. Revolvers not so much. Cannot do pics as I'm electronically challenged. Frank

I didn't realize this was a revolver thread. This is my only S&W revolver - it's a 66-4 manufactured in 1996. It's one of my few guns that I will never sell - it belonged to my grandfather whom was very into S&W revolvers before he got older and sick, and it was his last revolver that he owned before he passed away. Priceless to me.

I haven't shot it in years, but when I do shoot it it's with my 158gr lead reloads pushed by Bluedot. It's not one of my more expensive guns, most modified (it's entirely original), accurate etc., but for whatever reason it's one that people often ask the most about and ask to hold and shoot.

WOW!!! So many beautiful firearms posted on this thread!
I shouldn't even be posting here based on my 'stable'.

For me, I have always liked lever guns, ever since watching "The Rifleman" as a kid.
I still love holding my Marlin .44 magnum Trapper (mid '90s), my Winchester .357 Trapper (marked 1894-1994), and my Marlin 39A Takedown (16" barrel).

Of the guns I own, the biggest 'wow' factor has always been firing my 6 1/2" 629-4 at the range - it ALWAYS draws 'wows' from other shooters.
Not many people are used to the 44 magnum where I shoot!

Then again, I recently was firing my 4" GP-100 and the range safety officer came over to confirm I was firing full blown .357 magnums - he had a big smile of approval on his face!
So many 9mms nowadays that even the .357 magnum isn't fired that often around here!

When it comes to non-gun folk, I have lots of WOW guns.

Hard to go wrong with a Model 27

I have several handguns that are kept out on display in my office. Every so often I change them around a bit.

This tends to bring up firearms conversations even from non-firearms people.

Right now the Deluxe Texas Sesquicentennial Commemorative is the only Smith and Wesson out

Previous pieces on display in my office have been my Deluxe Texas Ranger Commemorative

I know, but it is not just a Texas thing

My Snake Eyes have also been out

As well as my 50th Anniversary HK

There is my Colt Bicentennial Set which I do not have a photograph of all the drawers open at once. . . . need to shoot that one day

I also need to get a glass top display made for my Smith and Wesson Model 45 so I can put it out

Once we get to talking, I let the conversation lead me into what is brought out next. Half the time it is my carry piece (gun folks) other times it is often a Model 27 (non-gun folks) for the nice finish and checkered top strap

Your collection looks amazing... and expensive...

This one tends to get stuck in the back of the safe and sort of forgotten about. I pulled it out to check something the other day and thought, "This one ain't too bad."

It's just a rather mundane 19-4 but the grips really make it pop. The grips are a little fat for my taste, but I wouldn't change them. There is a tiny bit of wear around the muzzle.

This may qualify because everyone that picks it up says "Wow, that's heavy". A 28-2 that Charlie Clemens converted to 45 Colt. Weighs in at 4# even. A blast to shoot at 50 yards.

My wow isn't even a S&W. I've got various 629s, 29s, and 686s but none of them are anything rare or special, just shooters.

Now the most collectable revolver I have is a Ruger. If I had to show someone something they might not see every day this would be it.
