Thelma Lou has died

The Beverly Hillbillies had Ellie May.....:)

Larry

Yeah, but Green Acres had Eva Gabor. Yeah, I liked older "girls".

The Andy Griffith Show was my refuge in the dark days post 9/11. I'd sit and watch shows I'd seen a hundred times before and still laugh. It took me back to a simpler time. An escape from a world turned upside down.
RIP Thelma Lou.

From the web:

WHAT DOES THE GIRL NEXT DOOR MEAN?

"The girl next door is a term used to describe a female archetype and fashion aesthetic which can range in terms of personal definition, but usually denotes a girl or woman who appeals to traditional or "all-American" gender norms with the allure of purity, simplicity, and charm, with a natural, modest, or effortless beauty."

works for me.

I always thought "The girl next store who routinely sunbathed in her back yard with her girlfriends directly under my bedroom window"!

I liked the Darlings, they were really good musicians. Not sure if any of them are still alive or not. In real life they were the Dillards.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Well well well.....??

It wasn't exactly "Ginger" or "Mary Ann" ....but for me it was always Thelma Lou ..... and NOT Helen (Crump) . Helen was MEAN !

From Wiki ....
USO tour
When she was 17, Lynn auditioned to participate in United Service Organizations entertainment. At age 18 she was part of a USO tour in the China Burma India Theater. She realized the gravity of the situation when a Marine gave her a pistol saying, "You might need this."
Her activities on the tour included visiting patients in hospitals and singing requests from a repertoire of 725 songs.

I have enjoyed seeing her in a few movies in her early years playing a teenager. She WAS Thelma Lou ! She has always tugged on my heartstrings .
Damn, thanks for those, she was a looker but those are over the top.

For me.......

Barbara and Bette were two I enjoyed for acting skills, but for me Barbara was in a league of her own, along with Myrna Loy, Laraine Day, they all could dish it out pre-code, and out of the park during the Hays daze.

For you hard core Andy Griffith Show fans, the newly released movie "Mayberry Man" is a good watch.

Mayberry Man
