I have been watching Westerns on TV for decades. For some unknown reason to me while watching an episode of "Wagon Train" about a survivor of an Indian attack, I had a thought that made me go "hmmm". The survivor was a fellow with long scraggly hair and a huge bushy beard and mustache. Looked like a wild mountain man. This got me to thinking (always dangerous :rolleyes), that I had NEVER seen an Indian on TV with facial hair! That made me go "hmmmmmm".:)

Western movies and TV shows are not usually a reliable source of facts about history and Native Americans. Most have very little facial and body hair. Tend to pluck it out as it grows. Northwest/Pacific Coastal people have a different culture and approach.

It is seldom that I have ever seen someone who professes that they come from native American stock exhibit MPB or a receding hairline.

Hmm . . .

The native blood is getting pretty thin by the time it reaches me (great great great grandmother was Choctaw), but now that you mention it all the men on that side of the family kept their hair for a lifetime. So far, so good for me, too.

Have you spent a lot of time on or near reservations? The standard bar reply from a friendly insult is "go grow a beard".
