Thinking About Moving Out Of Oregon

As much as it pains me to say it, with the new legislation coming in Oregon and more probably on the way I think it's time for me to move out of state. I have lived here most of my life besides when I was stationed in Texas for a little while and living in Washington for a couple years.

Now I am just trying to figure out where. Texas was great, friendly people, relative low cost of living and in general enjoyed being there. I am actually considering Idaho as well as I still have family here and it's realtivly close. That and the hunting, fishing, and outdoors activities are great there. I guess I might just need to vent. I saved enough that I am able to move almost anywhere, I seem to be stuck on there. Luckily I am newly single and have no kids and essentially nothing tying me down. Now it's just where to settle down.

Yeah, basically Bloomberg infected our state and the dems have a majority in the house and senate and our governor now.....well yeah she is worse then Kitzhaber. House bill 941 is a universal background check bill, it also appears that I will make non resident concealed carry permits impossible.

Try Wyoming. The state of Wyoming made it a felony under state law to attempt the enforcement of any Federal gun control law contrary to state law. No permit needed to carry. Lowest population of any state. Do a thread search, there was a whole town for sale near here for $250k. I think you can still hang a man for cattle rustling...

I feel so sorry for the good folks of the anti-gun states.......it's like the average people are 2nd or 3rd class citizens to the law makers/police/judicial systems there.

My Missouri may not be perfect, but it's pretty good & state law wise getting better all the time......we have shall issue CCW, but they do have to be renewed.......real estate prices aren't bad & I suspect quite a bit lower than what you face in Oregon. Medical wise, we have 1st rate major hospitals, ranked up there with the very best nationally. Schools are pretty good , and in out state Missouri, the police are looked upon as friends & they view everyone else the same way generally. We have our fair share of idiot politicians too though.

It's still a good free state once you get out of the Portland and Eugene metro areas.

But Oregon state officials/politicians not to mention Portland public officials are a bunch of wacko socialist on the whole.

I would vote Idaho also.

Are you sure? I used to have earthquake insurance but they canceled me. Do they know something I don't?

There has yet to be a case. Also untested is a state law regarding making "Made in Wyoming" guns and selling them without needing an FFL.

I love Texas but Wyoming is where I am headed in about 5 more years. I would be there sooner but have a grand daughter that I want to be around for a few more years making sure she is off to a good start, but rest assured I am coming.

That's the thing, places like Seaside and the coast in general are beautiful places. Don't get me wrong staying and fighting is something I will do until I am no longer a resident here but the Democrats only need one or two more Senate positions to hold a supermajority and then with that they can increase taxes.

I will be in Salem on the 1st of April for the hearing and I know a lot of others will to. They are ramrodding this through and are voting on it in committe on the 2nd. We have a recall process here, I can only hope that this will be implemented.....almost makes me wonder if they knew about all this Kitzhaber stuff before the election and let him get elected just to have a D as governor, and with that I will remove my tinfoil.

I don't want to leave, but I don't like being required to change the way my life operates because some official lies and gets a law instituted.

I was a life long Missouri resident until I retired a couple of years ago.

Good place, my kids are still there. We bought a retirement farm in Kansas. Very similar. Nice to walk into a gun store, buy it and walk out with it.

As we speak KS is voting on doing a way with Concealed carry permits for residents in state.

We would join 5 other states that allow carry with out a permit, WY is one of them.

Idaho, I like it, my wife would not leave the grandkids if we sold out and wanted to move. Bur for you, sounds like a reality.
