I have a 99% 520, probably unfired, with the box, the S&W letter, the papers and the swab. The box has one broken corner, but it labels to the gun. I can't seem to post pictures, but I'll get that done if I decide to sell. What do you guys think i ought to ask, Ball Park? Is the market for this going to go up or down? I don't have to sell it, but it seldom sees daylight, I'm 63, and i have way more guns than I shoot. I need some advice from all these wise, grizzled heads. John

You should be able to move a 520 pretty quick here on the forum. They don't come around to often in my area. Good luck making a decision, its tough to do!

John,

It's funny you posted this. I have been wondering where all the threads are on the 520. There used to be about 3-5 per week here. That is one model I never used to have an interest in, but for some reason lately I have really started wanting one.
I see you're in Ohio. Where at?

SO FUNNY!!!!!!!!

I'm older, and, trust me, I have way way WAY more guns than I shoot. I ain't ready to just sell any, especially out of my S&W revolver collection (which has existed for decades but grew exponentially in the past 3 years). I just like to have them!

I too have more guns than I can shoot, but the 520 is on my wish list. I missed one at auction a while back. A couple bidders wanted it much more than I did.

I wish I could find the one I sold way back in 1983 to a collector in the Chicago 'burbs (NW, as I recall). I'd find a way to buy it back.

I'm just outside Toledo. i think I must have the only one in Lucas County. Never heard of, or seen, another around here.

Want one bad, have never seen one around south Louisiana. Its a birth year gun for me, and I love fixed sight revolvers...

That being said, I'd keep it, and not just for my reasons above. Its amazing trade fodder. Keep it till one of your grail guns comes along.

I sold a LNIB one a couple years ago when I was cash strapped and immediately regretted it. Luckily I was able find this dandy replacement, and I don't foresee selling this one anytime soon:

S&W's only example of a fixed sighted N-frame 357 magnum and one of two guns that came with those rounded magnas? Somewhere around $1200 or so.

I bought one from a fellow forum member shortly after joining this forum ten years ago for $600.00. That's better than money in the bank. A dealer I know got a couple of these when NYSP decided they didn't want them. Nobody was interested and like a mod. 58 he had, that I eventually bought, they languished in the sales case for a long time before they sold.

I had a chance to by a 520 for 600 back in 1998 at Rays in Dallas. I didn't and regretted until 2009. I got one on GB for about 900. I don't think I could ever sell it.

Hi Charlie...I think I bought my first 38/44 HD from you (GB) back in 2011

Mike
