The FNS-40c is fine and works just as it should but I like my S&W M&P 40 FS more. I'm thinking about trading in my FNH FNS-40c for a S&W M&P 40c. They're pretty similar in size though I'm pretty sure the FNS has larger capacity mags. My reason? I just really want to commit to Smith & Wesson as a manufacturer.

Valid reason? Your thoughts? I will also be getting a M&P Shield 40 within the next couple of months.

I like to shoot my 40c much more than I like to shoot my G27.
That's all I got on that.

I can only speak to my FNS9c vs. my M&P9c. I like my M&Ps but prefer the FNS9c to my M&P9c. Fits me better and more accurate out of the box, at least for me. The 40 is obviously snappier than a 9. If you haven't shot a M&P40c, might be a good thing to do before changing.

You can use full size M&P 40 mags in your 40C. X-grip makes an adaptor sleeve for using full size 9mm/.40 mags in the original compacts.

FWIW, I have both the .40C and FNS40C. The FN shoots well, has an excellent trigger and for the most part fits in my M&P holsters. Very little difference, size-wise between the two. FN mags are much more expensive and parts support (if needed) is problematic, however.

Thank you got the responses. They have been helpful. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I am going to keep the FNS. It is such a pleasure to shoot that I would be crazy to sell it to fund a M&P .40c. On the other hand, I really don't have a need for a M&P .40 FS either. So, I will be exploring the option of trading in my full size pistol for the M&P .40c.
Thanks again.
