This little ruger has won me over...

I picked up this little Ruger SR-22 last winter and right from the getgo I was impressed by it. Handling, function, dependability etc is above what I thought it would be. Today I decided to shoot it at some distance, that being about 85 ft. After a couple magazines and repeated hits on the steel plate I just stopped and said wow, what an impressive little gun. If any of you guys have questioned picking up one of these little gems, dont. My M&P 22 has taken a back seat to it. Yup, I said it

Smaller than an M&P22 (which I like), and locally around $50.00 cheaper, too. The ability to dry-fire is also a plus.

I have also found that it cycles perfectly with anything I have fired through it.
The last time I had it at the range, a guy was having every problem a semi-auto could give you with his high-dollar Sig .22 - stove pipes, feed, fire, ejection problems, etc.
My low-cost SR22 just kept blazing away.

Of my several Ruger .22's I have the most fun with the SR22. It's been very reliable, plenty accurate, and downright enjoyable to shoot. I have to put a little extra emphasis on reliability because I've run everything from cheap bulk fodder to more expensive quality ammo and it's digested it all without any hicup whatsoever.

Yeah mine will also shoot everything I feed it. I think I could fill shells with dust and a pebble amd it would fire it

I have a SR-22 also. It didn't like the American Eagle LRN rounds I tried in it. It has no problem with Remington Vipers. The SR-22 is the only semi-auto that the wife will shoot. I looked at the M&P 22 but bought the Ruger. Pretty satisfied with my decision.

I never really hear any negatives on ruger rimfires. Have heard good comments on the sr22. I know my standard mk 2 is a keeper. Like others have said, the thing never has had any issues, and shoots as well as some 2 or 3x the price imo.

Many gun stores quit selling the over priced, cranky (I had one!) Sig P-22's as soon as Ruger brought out their SR-22. I don't own the new Ruger, however I do own several MKII/III's and 10/22 rifles which are very reliable and accurate with a wide range of ammo.

Ruger seems to do .22's well. The SR22 is likely next on my list as a new shooter trainer. The one I shot belonged to a friend and I was impressed with it's trigger and accuracy right out of the box. Can't get the M&P22's here to try. Sig Mosquito was too finicky. Walther P22 has lousy sights.

That said, I won't be giving up my Ruger MK II/III's any time soon.

The P22 is made by Walther. I owned two P22's over the years. They were only reliable with CCI min-mags or Stingers. I now own a Ruger SR22 and mine is, as everyone else has said, reliable with anything I put through it and accurate.

Just got my SR22 back from Ruger today. Mine has been a jam-o-matic, but hopefully Ruger got it fixed. Mine had feeding problems, but oddly enough they replaced the magazine disconnect??? Anyway, looking forward to getting it to the range. Hopefully the jams are a thing of the past as I really want to like this gun.

Hey, quality is quality. Ruger rarely, if ever, builds junk.

My Ruger .22s include two Mark II pistols, 1 Single Ten, 1 SP-101, and two 10/22 Rifles. I don't have any other Ruger semi-autos, but I do love their .22 LR guns.

I have never had a single problem with any of them. I think the Ruger 10/22 is just about the best semi-auto 22 LR ever made, and you just can't beat the price either.

I have all the .22 guns I need or want and since I don't care for plastic guns, I doubt I will ever try the newer ones being produced. For me my Mark IIs are just too good for me to bother looking for something better.

Now if the ammo manufacturers would get their act together........

I'm pretty sure that the SR22 is just an SR22. I haven't seen any variations.
If you end up with one I don't think you'll regret it.

I sort of wish I'd have bought a SR22 instead of my M&P 22. The M&P has proven to be pretty finicky. :/
