Hey guys,

Mentioned this in another thread but didn't want to highjack so asking for input here.

Inadvertently came across a 940 no dash 3" today in a local pawn shop, no box or docs, but also no signs of abuse and very little signs of any real use, aside from a light covering of dust that could just as easily have been acquired on someone's nightstand. With the concealed hammer and lock on the trigger (store policy) couldn't really check the internals, but all seemed correct as near as I could tell.

They have $300 OTD stickered on it. This particular shop isn't really a gun focused store; deals mainly in electronics and jewelry, but even with that said is it just me or does that price seem a little 'too' low for the model and apparent condition? I seem to recall the last one I saw at a show was a 940-1 tagged at $700 or $750.

I'm usually more a pre/post-war collector, so thanks for any thoughts!

A pawn shop has about half of asking price in their out of pawn for sale stuff. I would dicker just for the fun of it due to that fact but would not leave the store without it. If you pass, PM me the shop name and location...

Your member data says "Southwest". Don't know exactly where, but I could fly to Phoenix and back from Seattle, buy that thing for $300, have it shipped back up here, and still be money ahead versus buying one off GB. Go back there and grab it before someone else who knows its current value does. I'm not kidding. GO NOW. Stand at the door until they open.

I hope you go back and buy it as I'd love to hear the rest of this story. That is a heck of a deal if everything checks out and the revolver works properly. About 3-4 months ago I was watching a fairly beat up on on GB and thought I had a shot of getting it for $400. Last minute bids drove it up to $550 if I remember correctly. I still thought that was a decent price for one that could benefit from some serious cleaning!

Gave it as thorough a going-over as I could w/o firing or examining the internals and all seems in order from the lock up to the firing pin. Barrel looked as clean as a whistle as did the chambers; if it was fired it was fired very little. The condition, dust, and two minor scuffs on one side all still suggest to me a 'placed there and forgotten' drawer or nightstand gun that had a peaceful life.

Put a deposit down and will pick up when back from traveling in a few weeks. Full pics and range report to come once thoroughly clean and broken in. ;)

In the meantime, here's a quick teaser snap the proprietor allowed me to take with the old phone cam.

Thanks for posting the picture! Those 3" versions don't pop up often. That price was a no brainier and I'm sure there would be plenty of takers here if you had the interest to sell!

Glad you went back and found it. The rubber Uncle Mike's grips are original and comfortable for shooting too.
