Waiting for the local gun shop to get shipment of 15-22's in and was wondering if anyone knew if there were any restrictions dealing with age that must be followed by the buyer of a 15-22. I live in Ohio and the only law i could find was; must be 18 to buy a shotgun or long rifle and 21 in order to buy a handgun. I am 20 years old and was wondering if the M&P 15-22 is any different than say a Ruger 10/22. Considering they have the same function but the 15-22 may look more "scary" to law makers.

Also i am not sure if the gun shop is revealing the threaded barrel version or the standard barrel version. I would like to have a threaded barrel and considering the current times i will buy the gun from him no matter which one it is. How much does getting a barrel threaded usually cost? Just a ballpark estimate will suffice.

Thanks!

Unless you have a "friend" with a lathe that really knows what he is doing...
The normal price for getting a barrel threaded is $50-$75... then the cost of whatever style flash hider you want to put on it.!!!! The standard A-1 birdcage, as its called, what comes on them from S&W can be picked up at gunshows for $10 for the birdcage and crushwasher...

All the S&W 15-22's that come threaded, already have the A-1 style birdcage installed... smart move is to buy it already on it.!!!!
Except for the 15-22 Performance Model Rifle... it comes with a fluted 18" barrel and is threaded but has a thread protector on it...
