Threads about bear guns...

That looks like 2 prints, one front and one rear. We had a young black bear walk across our patio about a week ago. My neighbor had bags of trash in the bed of his truck. First bear I've seen here in 10 years.

How am I late to a bear and a bigfoot's (bigfeet?, bigfootsies?) thread?!?

I need to pay closer attention.

1 question. How did the bigfoot get paint on his foot? Someone thought he was huffing. Aren't there laws about that? Didn't anyone check his ID before he bought the paint? Inquiring minds, you understand.

a 900 pound bear is a tremendous size critter. As big as most Kodiaks...or larger. A bow would not be my arm of choice for any bear. A fellow killed a grizzly that was attacking his son. One shot with a bow(elk hunting). It just wasn't that bear's day. Cut a carotid artery. Fish and game still accused him of using his son as bait so he could kill a bear...Yeah..right:rolleyes:

I would like to know what kind of arrow that thing slung!

This guy could probably tell ya.

They warn people out here also. Don't mess with the Buffalo. Last summer some Chinese fellow got his wife up next to a big Bull Buff and he stuck a horn through her side..Darn near killed her. 2000 lb critter..go up and pet it!? yep Darwinism at work. I won't even get up close and personal with a 1200 lb cow that knows I feed it...or even a 150 lb deer.

Yup, far more people killed by cows and horses than bears. Years back some Frenchman got killed by elk in Yellowstone, bunch of idiots taking pictures, basically surrounded a herd in a meadow and they stampeded down his piece of trail. Morons. I got some whitetail does that hang out close around my place. Basically ignore me, but, I am careful never to corner one or spook them. Anyone who has ever seen the does fighting would give them respect.

Funny buffalo story: Guy I know bought a bull buffalo calf and raised it up. Him and mamma get a divorce. She gets the place and the buffalo. Along a comes new boy friend with new truck. The bull don't like the new truck and trashes it. Guy tells me how bad he feels about that.

Are you wearing your bigfoot slippers again?

Put up a deer cam and lay out some of that sticky flypaper sheets.
That will be as fun to watch as masking tape stuck to a cat's paw.

You MUST tell us 'guy' named the calf "Karma".:D

On May 21st 2000, 50 year old Glenda Ann Bradley of nearby Cosby Tennessee became the first person killed by a black bear in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
I was told it was a mommy bears with cubs... it's hard to believe more hasn't been killed the way tourist act!

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park has more black bear per square mile than anywhere else in the US.

QUOTE]

we were at Yellowstone 2 years ago and saw an Asian looking guy walk up and try to pet a very large elk with a very large rack which turned and knocked him down and circled around him about 10 feet away .. the only thing that saved him a Ranger in a truck just happened by and drove between the pair separating the two .. I had just told my wife the guy was going to get gored when he tried to pet it and it almost happened .. that day there were a lot of elk around "Old Faithful" area and people were being told by rangers to move a couple were forcefully moved from the area by I guess were called Park Police after refusing to follow directions ..

They acted like they were stuffed animals instead of the wild animals they are !!

On the story of the bowhunter and her guide. Follow up.. Lady shot an elk with the bow. They were field dressing it when the bear grabbed the lady. Guide came to her defence with the skinning knife Stuck the bear a time or two Bear let the lady hunter go and grabbed the guide. Chewed and clawed him a bit. Finally let him go and disappeared Although many bear defenders would say they never make unprovoked attacks it does happen. They thought the bear wanted the elk meat...the easy way. Personally I don't ever need to kill any bears at this point of my life..I do think that the bears in our area need to have a little fear of man. They seem to have none. We also seem to have more bear attacks than areas where they are not protected by the ESA. I try to leave them strictly alone but would like to be able to elk or deer hunt without possibly being on a bears menu

The ""huffer"" might'a pinched a 5 gallon bucket from a nearby lowes and got caught with his pants down (by the bear) when he was trying to snort through a straw. He panicked and ran-upsetting the 5 gallon can-the bear-only wanting human-stepped into the white goo-and now-you know the rest of the story.:confused::rolleyes:;):p:p:D
