Something to keep in mind about second hand shoes, even if they look new, it is probably a good idea to get a can of either a commerical athlete's foot liquid spray (or perhaps just Lysol) and hose out the insides before wearing. This is especially true with any sort of military issue footwear.

You need active duty ID to buy them, but whenever recruits fail training for whatever reason, their boots are then sold at the Exchange for 25 to 30 dollars. Most look new, save having names wrote in them, but there's still some nasty cases of foot rot going around.
