Here are my two 3½" pre 27s. One from 1953 and the other from 1954. They both shipped to Rex Firearms.

Beautiful, Richard! Your displays and posts inspired me to do something similar with a K-22 Outdoorsman that needed some significant TLC to fix barrel corrosion. I wish it was back from the shop so I could put it in this thread. Perhaps soon. In the mean time, I'm enjoying your wonderful guns!

Richard, I wanted to get it engraved but I couldn't find an engraver that wasn't fully booked up through next year. So I am just doing the plating and bluing. The frame is done but not assembled. We are waiting on the hammer and trigger which has had the case coloring redone. Maybe by Christmas...

I'm glad I sold you my pre 27. it's definitely in good family, although not as elegant as those engraved examples. quite the wonderful collection you have there.

Just one that I had one of our members put together for me. The barrel and cylinder are a matched pair. The blued frame had an unnumbered 6.5" barrel previously.

I think this might a one of a kind. Here is the last paragraph of the letter.

"We have researched your Smith & Wesson Model 19-3 Combat Magnum Special Production, caliber .357 Magnum......serial number K953802, was shipped from our factory on July 6, 1970, and delivered to Charles Greenblatt Inc., New York City, NY. This revolver was listed as being built for Officer William B. O'Donald New York City Department of Corrections. The records indicate that revolver was shipped with a 2 1/2 inch barrel equipped with a yellow ramp front sight, nickel barrel, nickel cylinder, blue frame, and dark smooth rosewood grips. "

Thanks, Richard. I like the 5" Barrel on this one. My factory letter indicates it was one of three shipped in the same configuration to Rex Firearms in NY, on July 13th, 1954. So there might still be a couple like it to lookout for out there. -Karl-

Is it a Pinto if only the extractor rod is nickel?

Here's a blue pre-WWII Regulation Police with a nickel plated ejector rod.

This serial number puts it somewhere around 1940, I think. .38 S&W caliber. Has some Asian-looking characters on the backstrap.

I just purchased this Kit Gun. It was presented to the Chief of Police in Springfield, Ma. It was given to Chief Raymond Gallagher by S&W President Carl Hellstrom. I haven't got it yet.
