To Re-Load or Not???

Well I set the Lee Classic press up along with the Lee stand for it. I also set the .223 rem die set up. I have cleaned, measured and deprimed 370 PMC once fired brass so far. I still need to set up my .45 acp carbide die set on the extra turret I have.

I also just ordered 11 pounds of X-Terminator, 3000 CCI 400 primers, and 3000 Hornady 55gn FMJBT bullets.

So I should be all ready to go when everything is delivered!

Yeah Stav...that seat reminds me of my old Kawasaki Drifter....LOL...my bench set up has changed, I took the press off and am using my hand press, Japes was right I can load as fast with it as I did a single stage and dont have to be tied to one area to do it.

LOVE my Seat.... Wife got it at Lowes a Few Years Back... works PERFECT for what it does... and Looks like an old Harly Bike Seat:D

Well went thru another 200rds of Brass de-Prime and Size.....

After about 500rds i only found about 20 that needed Trimmed.... Doing that now with my Lee Zip Tool... man that thing works Great...

So Like my new Process I Did..... think it will speed up my Loading for sure.. de-Prime and Size about 160 in like 1/2hr...

Ill only Check Size and Clean Primer pocket maybe every 3rd Time I do the Lot....

Looks Like I have about 1000-1200 brass.... Always looks Like more.... but after this Preping I Think that is a more realistic Number... Still have a couple hundred Factories I havent shot yet... So Probobly a solid 1500rds ta Play with....

Funny... some of my Brass has been shot at least 6x.... still have yet to toss a Brass cuz it is blown out or just DONE... Now i have SMASHED a few that didnt leave the Turret on time:eek: but thats not the Brass' fault.....:D

Again... Thanks to all the guys who got me going on this Hobby, and tight0023.... Hope you also find the JOY in all the aspects is this hobby like all of us do...

was a Great Friday Night for sure.... Hope I make it out ta Shoot Tomorrow:)

There are probably as many ways to do this as there are people who do it.
Here is my method: I shoot 4, 3 shot groups then take the avg. of those groups. I will then take the top 2 or 3 of those loads and do it all over again. I like the 3 shot groups because that's how many I can shoot before the barrel gets too hot and I don't wait for the barrel to cool between shots either. Shoot 3 of load X, then let barrel cool, shoot 3 of load Y then let barrel cool, etc., etc. IMO this simulates the vast majority of my hunting situations. If I miss there isn't time for the barrel to cool and I won't get more than 3 shots at any self-respecting critter either. Not the right way, just my way.

That's good too. Once dialed in,3 shot groups work great. Saves ammo too. I use mine for more cosistant loads by the hundreds +.

I have always used 5 shot groups, but after reading these posts I may rethink it.

Olskool, ya wanna adopt me? LOL
great set up...new dream setup!!
smithing and reloading same room lotsa space. Are all the presses single stage or do you have a turret hiding in there somewhere?

Oh I'm sure I will. My wife is 6 months pregnant with our first child so I needed something that I could do a bit more of at home and this is right down that alley.

Can't wait to get my bullets, primers and powder in. The bullets already shipped from Midway and are due in on the 25th!

I am a little envious...when I get a bigger house that there is my dream set up!!!

Reloading doesn't require much space.

Let us know how that Lee works out for you. I have eyeballed them due to price, but there are some scathing reviews on Miday.

no turrets, but i have had a couple. i had a rcbs piggyback progressive about 25 years ago when they first came out. to this day i don't think a doubble charge was dropped but this is the result.

my wifes new lady smith 38 i was loading 2.7 gr. of bullseye and kboom! so i do one at a time. my presses are rcbs 2a around 1959 vintage i have two of them and one rcbs a2 from 1968 and one rockchunker 1973

I live in an 830 sumptin sq ft house and my wife is a chef and has all the chef stuff, and I do mean all...I built a reloading bench out of a B&D Workmate using 2 layers of 3/4 plywood on the top. it works great but with the classic press on it, it is cumbersome. I try myself to do it in as little space as possible and do reload for all my rifles and soon pistols. I did buy the Lee Hand Press and have loaded over 200 rounds with it and took my classic off of my bench. but I would love to have that Lee stand because I could put it out in the barn and when I have a lot of rounds to load I could bring it in. the barn has a dirt floor and pretty dusty and drafty so I don't reload in there. But yes I would like to know how the Lee Reloading stand works myself. I do understand just a little space!!!:D

You just made me feel alot better about not being in a hurry for a progressive or a turret. Glad no one was hurt. I just showed my wife your pics and she said when we get our new place I can get one of those little prebuilt buildings to move my hobbies into...YeeHaa
