Tooth just pulled. What to expect?

If the surrounding teeth are sound you need to do something with the empty space, otherwise the adjacent teeth will eventually be compromised and fail.

I haven't heard of that one. The molar next to the wisdom tooth usually gets compromised if the wisdom tooth is impacted. You can't floss in between the two.

I just had a tooth pulled about a month ago, a baby tooth (I'm 47 :P). My dentist gave me the option of bridge, implant, flapper or do nothing. Make sure you don't eat anything hard like corn nuts for awhile as your jaw may be weak. A dry socket can lead to infections to the jaw. When they took my wisdom tooth out, I asked for a large syringe to clean out the wound of food. It may not be needed for a simple tooth. Also, you may get slivers. Go back to your dentist to remove them.

My ex-wife had two removed on the same day about 12 years ago. She never smoked or drank through a straw and still ended up with 2 dry sockets. Said that the pain drove her the closest to suicide she'd ever gotten.

Heck, all it got me was a bunch of frustration. I mean...do you people have any idea how HARD it is to find a voodoo doll with a mouth that'll open?

Man... I had a total of 8 pulled, 4 for braces in one day and 4 more impacted wisdoms (pulled not surgically removed) in one day after my braces where taken off. It's not so bad day one no straws pack with gauze, by day 3 I could drink soft drinks, forget the shakes. I just hated eating, especially dry crumbly foods cause it got in the holes.
