Top 5 reasons to buy and not to buy a sigma!

I've seen some of you on other threads. So what I post you have seen. Let me just say...

Sigma ROCKS! I'm at the 650 round mark. Trigger is not an issue. All it takes is PRACTICE! Some are not willing to put the time in with the Sigma. They shoot it a few times and bad mouth it. Reliable and accurate!!! :D If you can get your hands on a Sigma, get it and shoot often! ;)

Great thread Lee!!

I bought one as an affordable experiment. I'm mostly a DA wheelgunner now, but I can shoot 1911s pretty well, a BHP ok; not too well with SIGs, can't hit a bull in the butt with a Glock. Put 1000 rounds through a G17 and said adios to that.

Only have 150 rounds of my handloads through the 9VE; one failure to feed from unknown cause. To me reliability is foremost, so while I didn't like a FTF, I am willing to write it off to break-in and Murphy.

However--as a DA revolver shooter, I find the "heavy" trigger charge ridiculous and close to perfect for practical purposes. This is the first 9mm I have ever shot really well, and I love that. The gun feels and fits my small hand GREAT. Now if it will shake down into a 100% reliable gun I will call the experiment a screaming success. Even at this point I would call it a great leap forward from Glock "perfection"--performance without the hype.

I even caught myself thinking about an M&P 45c, but in checking out the M&Ps I didn't really care much for the lighter pull. There is something to be said for a medium to heavy pull as long as it's smooth and doesn't stack prior to letoff. If I wanted a "target gun" I'd buy a target gun.

850 rounds to go.

in my opinion we should tell everyone the Sigma is the worst gun ever made...It has a lousy trigger, cant shoot twice in a row and is garbadge....then when everyone stops buying them, the price will go down to 5 bucks and Ill buy about a thousand.......write a book on how everyone gave it a bad name and resell em as collector items at 1k a piece...so folks dont buy themm they are junk.......as a matter of fact send them to me and Ill make sure they get disposed of properly...

It's obvious the Sigma isn't for you. Many others feel different about the Sigma series. I'm one who thinks the exact opposite of what you do. Trigger is not a problem for me.Takes time and practice with the Sigma as it does with ANY firearm.

How long have you owned a Sigma and how many rounds have you put through it?

Exactly how I feel. I bought a 40VE six months ago. I am a double action revolver guy. All the talk of the Sigma having a poor trigger is hogwash. All a person needs to learn is trigger control and the Sigma is a great pistol.

Whoa there, big fella! Read jtpur's post again.

I think he likes them too much and he's willing to use humor get more than his fair share! :D

I like you!!!:D Your cool!!

Most of these are why I have one... :/

1. I can't afford a Glock or M&P, so I'll settle for this cheap gun

I could have afforded more, but to me, as long as the tool works..
And I'm cheap...

2. I just need something for defense so anything will work

Not anything will work, but the .40 Sigma is good nuff for gov work..
And I'm cheap...

3. I know the trigger is horrible, but i'll make it better

I never really worried about the trigger. I have manly fingers
from playing geetar for 33 years.. :)

4. It has a rebate. If it didn't, I wouldn't buy one

Being cheap, I didn't complain about the $50 rebate and two extra
mags.. :/

5. I'll hot-rod it and give it a 3lb trigger pull with wolf springs; my buddy saw how, on youtube

Naw... But I will confess to finally removing the pigtail spring after
owning it three years.. The other springs I'm not going to change.
Removing that pigtail did make an improvement. I also had to do some
slight polishing on the sear, as in some cases with a slow pull, you
could pull all the way back and still not fire.
I did some slight polishing of the sear and a very slight buff on the
edge of the striker part.
With the pigtail spring out, it's almost perfect for what I want.
I finally took it out, as I could see no real purpose for it at all..
Except to make the trigger harder to pull, and it's hard enough
without it.. It's still plenty safe. It's just kinda back to pre-lawsuit
specs, the way I see it..
The danged thing shoots pretty good now.. I ain't a jokin..
You can slow pull mine now, you don't have to quick pull it..
I use mine pretty much for a camp pistol, and being plastic and
stainless, it's pretty good for that job. I don't have to baby it like
I would some high dollar piece.
IE: a nice 3rd gen or whatever, I'd be afraid of scratching it up if I
took it out camping all the time.
