Thank you, it was a pawnshop "left behind after the COVID rush.
The book says 1878 starting @ #1 and ending in 1892 @# 97574. I'm hoping to trim that range down around the 1890's ish?
Pictures are difficult
Edit: The # is "scratched,, I think? (Maybe pencil) on the stock.
The dates adorning the top of the gun are & have been protected very well. The engraving of ALL those tiny numbers on the top of this little barrel is,, like a watch.
This little pistol took me down the.32 S&W rabbit hole.
I wondered if the stocks would be marked when I got it because I didn't have anything that old.
I learned a lot down in the rabbit hole
1857 S&W began marking stocks
That single action .32 would have been made in the very late 1883's or before 1892. That is quite a nice looking one. I had a a few, both rim-fire and center fire and I had shot the center-fire ones several times..

That's quite a rack of pistols. The top one raises a few questions I've had about the frame "circles on the Square Butt frames.
Is the frame cut circular? Or do the wood stocks overlap the frame?
I was also wondering about the checkered triggers and knurled bottom latch. Most of the ones I've seen in (pictures) have been so worn, I wonder if they were checked at all in the beginning?
Square butt frame on the model 1 1/2 First Model, yes.
My question is, Is the top of the grip frame on the First Model 32 rimfire machined for Stock Circles like this picture of a 3rd Model?
Or is the Top of the frame cut square like the First Model 22 and the Second Model 32 tip up?
