Tractor guns

Depending on what you are doing, running a tractor and be a relatively clean and cool operation or an extremely dirty and sweaty mess.

The first picture is the tractor after bush hogging the roads. The tractor operator (me) looks about as bad. Under these conditions I usually have a Glock in a fanny bag as the dust is just incredible. Honestly this is about the only time I carry the Glock but you can wash it with a hose afterwards.

My wife is moving a stump in the next picture. This is a pretty clean operation. When I am doing something like that I carry the GP100 in the Simply Rugged holster. This holster is now not quite so pristine but still works great.

I prefer revolvers anyway but when you are doing farm work they work out pretty well because you can pattern load them or tailor your loads to the task at hand. I like .357s because it's so easy to work up loads, I hunt with a .357 carbine and .357 is economical with powder and shot.

I don't have a tractor but when I'm ATV riding I usually carry a 45 shield in a Don Hume JIT holster. Once in a while I will carry my 3" 629 in a pancake holster. Of course there's usually a recreational gun, or two, or three, packed away for when we stop for lunch. Many a tree stump has been stopped dead in it's tracks during these trips.

Every once in awhile I'll carry a Colt SAA while mowing the lawn.
Last one was a .44-40 WCF.
Since I had surgery where I had all the toes and metatarsal bones removed from my left foot, I'm not allowed to mow until the foot heals. Wife does the mowing for now, and says we have groundhogs by the creek. I told her to take the .22 rifle and see if she can eliminate them. She said she will get me on the patio with the rifle, and I can shoot them. That's okay by me.:D

Been there done that many times.
Bagged quite a few rabbits over the years as well.

My son was cleaning some rabbits he had raised while I was bush hogging on my tractor. I saw two rabbits together and they were both standing upright. I shot the one on the left with my S&W model 64 pencil barrel through the head but the one on the right ran off before I could get another shot. I put the rabbit on the hood of the tractor and drove by where my son was cleaning the others. I threw it on the bench where he was working and said "Here's another one". If I can keep the coyotes out we usually have plenty of rabbits in the back forty.

Really enjoying the pictures of everyone's working guns
Please keep them coming:D

The nylon chest rig is called a "GunMate" and it is made by Michaels of Oregon. I've had it for many years. It's a "One size fits all" kind of holster and works great for wearing while I mow or cruise around the property on my ATV.

The leather holster is made by the "Master's Holster company. They are out of Turkey. I think I bought that one on eBay.

During my old days on the farm I would usually have a Poly Tech Legend AK-47S underfolder behind the seat in the cab of my John Deere and a BHP in a Miami Vice shoulder holster. These days when I am up at the hunt least bush hogging I usually either carry a 3" M64-3 or a 3" M629-4 backpacker in a Miami Vice shoulder holster, sometimes with a MP5 clone, close at hand
