Traded my Sigma for an XD!

If you like the XDm great, thumb safety and grip safety??? I find the XDm and glock 22,23 shoot high for me. The sigmas fit, are accurate, reliable. What state do you live in that you pay for a NICS check?? It is free??

I won an XD in 357 Sig last year at a PPC match. I only have a few hundred rounds through the XD, but I have to say, I much prefer my Sigma 40VE to the XD. It doesn't shoot anywhere near as accurately as the Sigma. Maybe it just needs some more breaking in.
On the positive side, I have had no problems what-so-ever with the XD. But also no problems with the Sigma....2000+, 100% trouble free, through the 40VE.

The XD is a nice pistol but personal I hate all the safety chamber loaded indicator slide lock out **** on pistols today. Just one more thing to fail the reason I bought a Sigma is I know it will fire when I pull the trigger and only when I pull the trigger. You can carry chamber loaded without any worries with the Sigma that hard trigger is there for a reason honestly if a man can't handle pulling a 7-10lb trigger.... well enough said

I don't own a plastic gun, but how would you compare an XD to an M&P?

I own a XD40, an XDm40, and an M&P40. The M&P40 in MY opinion is more accurate and comfortable to hold and shoot than the XD40. However, I believe the XDm and the M&P to be almost completely on par with one another. They are both similar in accuracy, both feel great in terms of ergonomics, and both seem similar in recoil. I don't think I could choose one over the other, they are both excellent pistols.

The way the xd is designed, the loaded chamber indicator isn't going to cause the weapon to fail. It's simply a little bar on a hinge, when a bullet is in the chamber the casing pushes it up. The indicator on the back is not going to cause it to fail either. As for the sights, if you read the manual it tells you to aim at the bottom of your intended impact point. Bottom line, XD > Sigma.

XDs have the best designed loaded chamber indicator out of any of the polymer wonders. Simple, reliable, and positive.

As for the high bore axis on the XDs.....well, no need to go there in this thread.

It wasn't my intention to screw anyone over. I went off prices on the same classified site, and figured mine came with a couple high capacity mags, and aimed a little high to give people room to negotiate and still get the price I wanted. Buddy was willing to pay sticker price. It's not my fault he didn't search around and see it was only worth about 300 for the package. It's not my fault he doesn't know that you never pay what the sticker says. I learned in business a long time ago that if your customer walks away happy, he's not getting screwed over.

maybe we should rename this forum to "Guns" sorry but Im still a SIGMA fan.....but thanks for selling it for more than you can buy one for new.....

When I worked at the LGS someone had a similar story to tell me.
"I traded my sigma 9 for a knockoff XD, did I do bad?"
The "knockoff" was a Croatian HS 2000, i.e. the design Springfield bought.
I told him if it shoots he did well.
I've shot the XD 9 and 45, both are flat shooters

I warn all that this will be a controversal post that follows.

Polymer is Polymer.

I dont own a Sigma because I prefer metal frame lightweight trigger weapons-and the Sigma is the antithesis of my carry philosophy-but were I to purchase a poly frame gun id buy a Sigma over an XD or Glock.

Why? Because a Sigma does the same thing that the XDs,Glocks,poly-frame Rugers, and even the storied HK poly frame pistols do-they feed and shoot service caliber rounds reliably with a metal slide and barrel riding on a poly frame.
Yes, the Sigma doesn't have the best reputation which I squarely attribute to price, not function.Glock and others have made stinkers in their time too.

Except Glock, Springfield Armory, and HK make you pay $200+ over the price of a Sigma for what is fundamentally the same hardware.

Since there's no quantifiable difference in the performance of a brand new Sigma to a brand new Glock to a brand new P30,gun owners are reduced to trading e-punches over loaded chamber indicators and finger grooves on the frame.

One wonders what the legacy of the Sigma would be today had S&W charged $100 over the list price of the Glock back when the Sigma was new.

To the OP-trade as you need to get what you want. But dont expect people to yell amen on a S&W forum about trading an S&W for a competitors product.

I honestly don't care what people have to say in regards to my decision. In my opinion, the XD is a better feeling, accurate, and better built machine. Take it for what it's worth and go flame someone elses thread.
