Trying to decide what accesories to get...

so i put on a 4x nikon scope with eaxtra high mounts, and i can definitely still see the front sights...i read somewhere as long as the magnification is above 3 the front sights will not be seen. well i can still see them, i mean its usable, but thats going to annoy the hell out of me. is there any possible way to remove the front sight without messing up the gas rod? or should i just get a riser for the rail?

Someone here posted a picture of his rifle with the front sight sawed off. Seemed to work for him.


What Nikon do you have. IF a 1-4, the sight should not be visible to you at 4X but clear at 1X.

You can take a hacksaw and cut the front sight posts off, replace the gas block or get a riser. I have done all 3 @ one time or another. Riser is the easier, softer way.

right on....the nikon i have on is just a scope i had kicking around, its 4x and i guess i was a little drunk last night because this morning i cant see the front sight at all! but i am going to get a riser because its not very comfortable that low and is kinda in the way of the charging handle. Now i just gotta find a hex wrench to get the grip off, and im ready to shoot another couple hundred yards after work! man i love this gun... thanks guys.

so my quad rail came in with the foregrip, and its f'ing awesome! also sighted in the scope and im just amazed how accurate this rifle is... so im looking for a side mount that you can put onto the buttstocks mount to make the firearm stand better upright on your chest with the sling....any suggestions?
also im really leaning towards a mark 111 ncstar tactical scope. anyone ever own one of these?"
and one more question..haha, is there a possibility to have a mount that the scope slides to the side so that you can use iron sights still or something? i want the option of having close proximity sights with a more magnified scope of some sort. thanks in advance, you guys rock!

Somebody had a set on sale recently at a really good price, but I can't seem to find the e-mail or link now... I've never used them (I prefer co-witnessing irons and RDSs), but these were cheap enough I was tempted to try them out on general principle.
