Beautiful Model 2 you have there. Show us the inside of the case it is sitting on. The serial number indicates that revolver was manufactured late in the Civil War period, so collectible for both gun collectors as well as Civil War collectors.
The end of the Civil War was April, 1865, so anything made after March of that year would have not made it to the war effort before April. The manufacturing date cutoff for the Model 2 has been estimated in the past. Supica/Nahas book hints that any Model 2 under around 40,000 would be considered as eligible for Civil War issue. I have found through observation that cut-off number could be as low as 35,000.
