Trying to Like My Sigma...

Thats ok your not as strong as Lee's and writerinmo's daughters. ;0

And it's obvious that you're equally as mature as they are too.

the Cougar is being made in Turkey?

Know what you're talking about before you spout off at the mouth.
Marketing and distribution of the Cougar has been transferred to Stoeger Industries, a subsidiary of Beretta.[2] The firearms are made in Turkey, using Beretta factory tooling. Stoeger now produces Cougars in 9x19mm, .45 ACP, and .40 S&W. Only the full size models are being produced, with no current plans for a Mini Stoeger Cougar.

at best9mm.com, whoever they are...
People who seem to know a little bit more than you...

And the EZ 'haggle' price is $410-$440,
And here ya go: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/21_231/products_id/54984 Anything else you'd like to act like you know what you're talking about?

I think it's time for you go to bed before your parents find out your awake.

As I said before, good luck with your sell. I hope you find what your looking for. I would suggest a red Ryder but the trigger are about 10 pounds and have way to much recoil for you. Sights are most likely different than your use to and that darn stationary target won't stand still. But I thought you would like it because we are making comparisons to the EZ that you like so much.

BTW.. What did the site say? 305.00 for the gun. Then you have 25-40 bucks for FFL fees, and how many mags does it comes with? 1 or 2. Sigma comes with 4. Sounds like your EZ is about 100 bucks+ off the mark.

Shhh.. Here comes your parents. Shut down the computer quick, before they take away your stuffed spongbob away.

I received this pistol as a wedding gift from my father in law.

You just gotta hold on to it while the 'ole man is still around.
But hey, it sure beats having to wear some ugly sweater your grandma gave to you for Christmas!!

It's a pretty good weapon to show new shooters the difference between budget weapons and things a little nicer. They also make great paper weights.

But at the end of the day, FREE GUN!!!!

Like I said, and you confirmed... the Cougar is being made in Turkey?

Basically what it all boils down to is this. You don't like the pistol. Fine. Put it up and quitcherbitchin. Like I said, there are shooters and then there are people who shoot guns. The pistol does exactly as it was designed. Not everyone can shoot every firearm perfectly. I fail to see the point of your post other than you want to complain. If it was constructive at any point, I must have failed to see it. Since you don't seem to have the option of going back to dad-in-law and asking him if he'd be offended if you sold it (or gave it back) then seems like sticking it in the safe and moving on to one of your other "fine" firearms is about the only option.

And my daughter is very mature, I have yet to see her on a gun forum whining because she can't hit the target...

I get what he was trying to say. Who wants to spend $500 on ammo just to get the gun where it's halfway enjoyable to shoot? I could have put that $500 and the cost of the Sigma towards a better quality gun and enjoyed it from day one. The point wasn't lost one me. :D

But I see all sides of the story. I just personally find it hard for me to take a gun I don't like to the range and waste money on ammo. The times I've taken the Sigma, I end up leaving mad that I can't hit the broad side of a barn with it, mad that I just wasted X amount of money in ammo, and mad that the trigger stinks. And I feel like I shouldn't be mad when I'm doing something that I love doing, like going to the gun range. So in order for me to not be mad when I leave the gun range, I leave the Sigma sitting in the cabinet and take other guns that I enjoy shooting much more. So it's really a vicious circle. I don't take the gun to the range because I always leave mad and I can't get the gun to smooth out and learn to shoot it because I don't ever take it to the range.

Sounds like you have given up on the Sigma.
I think what you need to do is sell it. You can explain to your father-inlaw that after many times at the range you just can not shoot the pistol like your other handguns. Tell him you appreciate the gift but it would be better to buy a handgun you can use.
Good luck,
Howard

Again, real mature.

Price was $301. You didn't specify about FFL fees. You just said to show you 1 gun in the price range of the Sigma. Which I did. So now you want to change the scenario. But either way, I named other models that sell in the Sigma range too. So either way, I was easily able prove you wrong.

Like I said, and you confirmed... the Cougar is being made in Turkey?
One of these (?) at the end of a sentence typically means it's a question. One of these (.) at the end of sentence means it's a statement. As you typed it, it appears that you were posing a question about whether the Cougar was being made in Turkey, not making a statement.

This thread needs to be a sticky.

" why not to talk crap about the Sigma"
Because I haven't seen a single post where I've "talked crap" about the Sigma. Just said it's not for me and I don't care for it. But it's pretty obvious to the rest of us adults on here, who is "talking crap".

I knew this thread would bring the bashers out.
Back that statement up. Quote something I've said that bashes the Sigma. Without something to prove what you say, you're just flapping your lips like the others two.

This may have stooped to the most childish thread yet! Name calling, daughter bashing, chest beating, cry baby crap-only on the Sigma forum. The rest of the S&W Forum seems to be free of this juvenile action.Bashers-why even bring it up? Sigma Defense Squad-why even respond ? That poor old dead horse is still taking a beating!

Agreed.

Just wanted to get some feedback about the "washboard" feel trigger and possibly how to approach the whole gift situation.

It's apparent to me that some members get awfully defensive and don't understand how to accept criticism of a gun! Not even personal criticism. So much so that the thread has officially be derailed.

First, I never said you were the basher (guilty consience, maybe). I simply pointed out that this thread would bring out the bashers, and???? It did!

Second, one person called the gun a POS and another called it a paperweight. That is bashing. There, I backed it up with facts. Not just flapping my lips.

I hope the mods shut this thread down.

Are we really going to play this game?

Ahhh don't feed the trolls...

Shame you got pulled into the fire on this great big flame war here. But regarding your original question (which most people seem to have forgotten), plenty of trigger time will cure your woes. That trigger will smooth out with lots of ammo downrange, or more economically, plenty of dry-firing.

I wouldn't consider your Sigma a "range fun" kind of pistol. It's a workhorse. What else do you own for pistols? I remember reading about a compact Ruger. Maybe your best bet is to spend enough time with the Sigma to get proficient (and come to terms with the fact that it makes a better plinker than bullseye shooter) and then stick it in the truck or on the nightstand. You father-in-law was kind enough to buy you a gun that you won't mind parting with if you ever need to use it against someone.

Also, this is a wonderful excuse to treat yourself to a new "range gun." Maybe a Ruger Mark III? :)

Got one of those too! Once I took care of all of my defensive needs with various guns, then I started filling gaps for specific purposes that I thought I needed. One of the last gaps for me is what I call "fun guns" or "range toys". Which for me would be guns that don't see any other use other than getting taken to the range for fun shooting, shooting reactive targets, milk jugs, old pumpkins, watermelons, that sort of thing. So when I got the Sigma, I though since I have all of my specific gaps filled, this can be my first "fun gun". I guess since I had no previous knowlege of the gun, it's mainly my fault for trying to put in a category that it was no designed for.

A RUST LOCKER gun! now THERE'S a good idea! ...

It's a nice luxury to have a weapon you could part with and not lose sleep over.

Once again, I call upon the mods to shut this thread down.

Expelling the internet commandos would be an added bonus!

Actually, I misspoke. Mine is a Mark II Target, not the Mark III.

And I've actually only ever sold a handful of guns, probably less than 5. But if I sell one, it quickly gets replaced with another.

The mods would not have to shut this thread down if somebody was mature enough not to have the last word.
