Wow, you might be the first guy I've ever seen on a gun forum that actually admits to telling the wife about purchases! Most just say they sneak 'em into the basement...
Good luck with sugaring up your wife! And I'm glad you came to a good decision regarding the Sigma. Just as well to use to proceeds to buy something you actually want. What do you hope to make on resale? Around the New England area, you can usually get about $200 for a Sigma if you're patient.

I had two in 9x19mm at the same time(guess I was a glutton for punishment or something) really though, what little bit I shot em' they weren't all that bad. They do have a nice feel to em' and if you spray some Ballistol into the trigger area it'll smooth it up a lot. Ballistol works great on plastic. What really hacked me off and make me never want to own another one was the resale value(or lack there of). I paid $350 for em' and ended up having to give em' away for $125 each when I found a different gun that I wanted.
From what I was told the Sigma was a "give away gun" that S&W dealers would get free for every 10 Standard Smiths they'd order so dealers really didn't put much value on em' at all if you had one to sell.
I love S&W revolvers and I have plans on pickin' up a S&W 5904 but I'd NEVER own another Sigma.

$125?! Jeez, I would've bought both off of you! Makes a great hand-me-down for beginning shooters. Plus leaves one extra for me as a nightstand gun.
Lowest I've seen one sell for on NES was about $175. Usually they'll sell at the $200-$250 mark, but no higher than that. Part of the higher resale might be due to the availability of pre-ban magazines. Good ole' Massachusetts...
Actually the SW9VE series is one of the best selling handguns on the market today, that's why S&W will continue making and selling for some time. People who want or need an affordable handgun can pick one up from $200-300. The SW9VE / SW40VE were never intended to be trade bate or high dollar guns. You are supposed to find someone in need or new to the sport and give it away for good karma and the satisfaction of creating another gun-loving American.
While I admit that I did a trigger job on mine right away (5.5lbs, smooth as butter and 100% ignition) I had no real issues with the stock trigger. And for those of you thinking beyond the range and how tight of group you can achieve, when the SHTF and your adrenalin kicks in a 10lbs trigger feels like a 2lb trigger. Hence the intended purpose (and trigger style) of the E-series Sigma.

What a lot of the haters don't seem to take into consideration is that the Sigma does exactly what it is supposed to do. It fills a niche for an affordable, reliable home/self defense semi-auto. It doesn't cost an arm and a leg to buy or shoot, is accurate within the distances usually experienced in such situations, and for those who don't fire it often, there aren't any safeties that you have to remember in the heat of the moment, just point, pull and BANG... no trying to remember "Safety on the left.. no right.. pull it down, no UP!!!!!!
And they have the ability to NEVER own one if they so choose, but really shouldn't be knocking on those who bought them, shoot them and enjoy them as a reliable, accurate sidearm, just because they could never master the pistol.

I want to get in on this horse beating contest too so here goes...
I probably own some of the most hated handguns on the internet along with other less hated ones. I own a Taurus Judge Ultra-Lite, S&W Sigma, Glock 27 (exploding 40s&w caliber), Taurus TCP, Taurus pt111 mil pro, Hi-Point C9, etc.
The Sigma was purchased several years ago when the triggers were more gritty feeling. Evidently they are paying more attention to the trigger mechanisms lately. I picked one up at the last gun show and dry fired it. It felt a lot smoother than mine did when I bought it. I did send mine back to the factory & they smoothed it out for me. I understand that they stopped doing that now.
The Sigma trigger pull made me a better shooter because I had to perfect my trigger mechanics to get results that I could live with. I realized that I was jerking the 10 lbs. + trigger instead of squeezing it straight back. I was lucky to hit the paper at first. After a few months of working with my mechanics I finally started getting good groups. Some Sigma owners won't take the time to correct their mechanics. They just keep shooting the same way and think that some how it will magically fix itself. Insanity is doing the same thing over & over expecting different results from the same actions.
I love all of my "most hated" guns...except maybe the Hi-Point C9...

I have a couple of the Hi Points, no problems with either the C9 Comp or the JCP .40, both accurate and work well, would never carry them due to the size/weight and lack of a striker block safety, but they go bang every time I pull the trigger.

Call LSG Mfg. at 325-885-2700. They are a S&W repair and warranty facility. Speak to Fred Smith and tell him the problem. If it is not covered by warranty, I believe he charges $60 to clean everything up. It will get rid of that gritty pull. It will also bring pull down, around 10#. My new out of box Sigma had a pull of 13.5#s.

i just got my sigma 40 last week took it to the rang put 300 rounds throw it and it fills like it has a 5 stage pull lol hope it goes away.

Trigger lightens up the more rounds you put through it. This past weekend I reached the 1150 mark with my SW9VE. Trigger is not an issue with me. Good luck!

Gawd 10 pages of My Dog Is Bigger Than Your Dog! For those not so informed The Sigma is a Personal Protection Handgun and is a great example of just that. It is not infact a Target Handgun and although view by some as such it is designed for Personal Protection.
If you have purchased a Sigma or other firearm and dislike it SELL The Frickin Weapon and move on with your life. I have purchased several weapons I really wanted but really disliked for one reason or another and sold them walking away with Lesson Learned! But to beat down a weapon that thousands actually carry and enjoy shooting is somewhat pointless to say the least.
Then to picture a replacement weapon that is shall we say in less than pristine condition and that weighs and additional 11 Ozs. that has NO Warranty what-so-ever is again more than pointless.
