Two inch Model 15

Dangit, BAM-BAM! Now I need to start driving North when I'm jonesin' for some gun beauties! Were there any other blue & wood beauties wherever you went? I was just down at a shop where the guns are "Priced Right." Not one blue & wood revolver! I did find an old .22 single shot rifle and picked it up, well under $200, with an old Weaver scope in pretty nice shape. I'll let my grandson plink around with it once I make sure it's all good & smooth.
There are little gun shops hidden all over around here that I need to visit. I'm presently slowly getting my house ready to put on the market so I don't want to spend any cash that I can use to polish up this joint! Unless, of course, I run into a revolver that I don't need!
Sounds like you scored well!

While I have had a few Model 15 snubs they have always seemed somewhat of a conundrum when compared to the Model 19 and model 66 snub.

Yep from back in the 80s through Friday I always opted in favor of the 2 1/2" 19s and 66s (till I found the3" guns). (Did get a 2" round butt model 10 for the wife)
Why not !
Half inch more barrel yes.... "butt"..... the trade off is a round butt! ....... and you can use any .38spl or .357 magnum load!!!!!!!! I also generally tend to carry .38 or +P.38s in any urban environment.

But for some reason I've wanted a 2" 15 for Concealed carry since sometime after the turn of the 21st Century. It's all you guys fault! With all the pictures and posts here..... and a idea in the back of my mind to match the 2" 15's square butt with a pair of Spegel's Boot grips..................... again a bit of a trade off vs the 19.

FYI; the Don Hume carries the 2" 15 high and tight w/ full barrel coverage..... strong side or cross-draw!! Versatile option for EDC and driving!!

I'm surprised that Smithnut hasn't done the 15 with Spegel's long ago....IIRC he has a number of Craig's grips!

Had to run to the market ... thought I'd try another step in my 2" model 15 carry concept.

Model 15 in a Don Hume JIT Slide worn cross-draw. Pairs nicely with a ........
Safariland Comp I speedloader in a Safariland 'Split-six" (371-1-C) mag pouch worn strong side.

1. 6 + reload..... more than enough for my "Burb of the Burgh"

2. Cylinder rides on the belt.. not top heavy, or trying to pull the butt away from my body.
3. Barrel fully covered .................no threat of barrel "push up" when seated..... chair or car seat.
4. it only extends about an inch below the belt line/easy to conceal
5. Spegel Boot grip is a great grip and doesn't add any "bulk" or length to the butt; again aids in concealment .
6. Split-six rides under my right hand... with half inside the belt there's not a lot of bulk on the belt.

I'm really liking the set up......... not what I'd "Take to War" (another thread) but more than adequate for EDC around town.

All of the posts on the 15 snubbie has me wanting to shoot mine.I haven't shot it in 4 or 5 years.

My Model 15-2 was inherited though my wife's family. Her grandfather was a LEO in the LA area in the 50's - 70's. This one is in really fine condition, and is very smooth and accurate. My wife qualified for her CCW with this revolver! Interesting though, the frame and bbl are marked with a 1962 serial number (K509199) but according to SCSW the 2" bbl wasn't sold until 1964. Must have been a Model 15 frame sitting around S&W until the 2" bbl was available and ordered (?).

I remember the early days of Petersen's Handguns magazine. I believe he was an editor, Jan Libourel, (I'm sure I butchered his name), had a brace of 2" M15's with Spegel grips that were used for photo "props" in almost every CC story. I finally wound up with two M15's, but only had Spegel's on one of them. The idea of adjustable sights on such a short barrel seem odd, but they balance great, shoot great, and well, I still have my "brace".
