Two questions.. Average age and what got you started?

Who did not get a firearm for Christmas? I still buy myself firearms for Christmas.

He's old enough to know what's right
And young enough not to choose it... Rush... my way of saying I am Gen X... an old Gen X..
first pistol I ever "shot" was my father's K22 about 4 or 5 years old.. shot is in quotes, because I was standing between my father's arms and pulled the trigger while he held it for me.. on the creek shooting tin cans on uncle's farm... been part of my DNA my whole life.. would read his American Rifleman after schoool and before he got home from work.. it was a wish book for me... he shot IPSC in the 70's & 80's and I would shag brass for him & his buddies... great fun as a kid.. I joined him shooting & hunting when I was old enough.. later in life when jumping & running wasn't for him, we shot bowling pins... I am now the care taker of some of his collection, and my accumulation as well...
RUSH, Chronicles, New World Man.

Classic rock track that spans the Boomer and GenX eras.

That song brings back memories of the first pistol I ever shot - my dad's old Colt Frontier Scout.

What I wouldn't give to have that old SA Colt in my collection...

Got first gun at age 7. 20 ga H&R SS. By 8 I was hunting(alone) the farm land all around my house. At 9 I killed my first deer with same gun.. I was about 13 when I got my first pistol. A Ruger Bearcat that cost $40 NIB. Now that I am 70 I have lots of good stuff. And a personal rifle/pistol range on my property. I also built myself a skeet field.......Life is GOOD!

Age 78. Bought my first S&W revolver, a 28-2, during my last shore duty tour in 1988. I love beautiful bluing and wood stocks, so I have acquired quite a few more since then. I shoot all of them, but only buy if condition is excellent.

Hello
I am 68 years old. My father didn't like guns at all. He had seen the war on the wrong side! On 8 September 1943 (armistice) the Italian Army broke up and returned home on foot from Yugoslavia. It took him two months!! The Germans were pissed off at the betrayal and shot on sight at the Italians, or captured them. The Yugoslav partisans took no prisoners. They were more pissed off than the Germans! So no guns when I was a kid! I bought the first Smith in '91 - 586 6" silhouette front sight. Then a 629 6", then a 629 8-3/8", then a Colt Delta Elite in 10 auto, then a 27-2, 3-1/2" nickel and then I never stopped! The last one is a full size MP9 in 9x21 (9 italian)

I will be 60 next summer. I remember when I was a young kid around 8 years old being the first time I went shooting with my dad. He was a police officer through the 70's and was on the pistol team. We would go out to the Delta river area and shoot guns. I shot his Ruger 22 six shooter and a couple of 38 specials. Then I got to shoot the model 28 .357 magnum. I remember that was lots of fun. But the best was shooting one of my dad's favorite duty guns, a S&W model 58 in .41 magnum. That was a blast to shoot. The first revolver I bought when I turned 21 in the mid 80's was a S&W model 57. I still have that same model 57 and it is my favorite revolver.

Mid 70's here. I was allowed to take an old 22 revolver out in the woods on my own when I was about 12. Actually purchased my first handgun when I was 17 (in my mothers name of course). Sold all my firearms (20 or so) except a couple when I was late 20's. Needed the money. Started over in my mid 30's when I purchased a 29-2. Have not looked back since then.

Ok. I'm 74. Got my first handgun when I became legal at 21. It was a Model 19 4". I loved its looks. Revolvers, to me, are classic. I have many. A very few I've never fired, but owning them is still a pleasure. The only semi-auto that appeals to me in the looks department is the FN/Browning Hi-Power. I have two of those and enjoy them. What I hate is policing up my spent brass. A revolver saves a lot of bending!

I'm 69, and I got my first revolver when I turned 21 at Ft. Hood Texas. I picked up a 4 inch Colt Diamondback from a pawn shop in Waco. I spent 31 years in law enforcement, and I have been a firearms instructor since 1980. in 2005 I retired. Since I "retired" I have worked steadily as a government contractor, security contractor, and I now own a security and private investigations firm. During all this time I have actively collected and traded revolvers.

Most of my revolvers are guns I carry or carried for self defense. I do have a couple of revolvers that are commemorative guns, so they don't get shot. Everything else are considered "working" guns.

I love older Colt and S&W revolvers, when craftsman built beautiful revolvers.
