My neighbor stopped by today and as usual we go to talking about hunting, reloading etc...he was telling me that he just picked up a two tone smith...I thought he was joking but he pulls out and shows me what he called a "Pento"..has anyone here ever seen this or is he pulling my leg..it looked like a polished stainless barrel and cylinder and the frame was blued...something someone made with extra parts on a frame??

There have been several factory pintos over the years and a few non-factory ones as well.

What model is it?

Pintos

Pintos are beautiful guns. Some revolvers were actually finished in two tone (called pinto) at the factory. One of our forum members collects pintos. Here is a link to his photo album.

I also own a pinto revolver. It is a pre-model 29 .44 Magnum revolver. It left he factory as a blued gun, but was refinished a few years later at the factory.

If he'll let you get some pics and look it over that would be cool. I know Jeremy, resident pinto expert, would love to see the pics. There are a lot of non-factory original pintos out there but sometimes you can tell if it's original by the looks of the gun. If it is original then Jeremy keeps a database of them and I know he love to have the model and serial number information if it is indeed a factory original pinto.

I saw a two tone 500 on collectorsfirearms.com several months ago. The gun was billed as a prototype and had a blue or black frame and brushed stainless cylinder and barrel. I wish I'd kept an image. Can you get a picture? Kevin

Do you remember what the barrel length was and if the cylinder was fluted or not?

I saw a Ladysmith 642 pinto... looked cool... same thing, stainless steel Barrel/cylinder and blued gun.
