I was not aware that the US Navy held patents. I guess the next war will be fought in Patent Court. It is a lot less bloody that way, I suppose?

Hopefully if the Navy does come up with something like this, they will keep it a Secret!
I see this is mostly reported by those folks- the ones who know stuff nobody else knows.
And when you read down in the article-
This patent for a "craft using an inertial mass reduction device" is fascinating, and is one of three patents filed by US Navy scientist Salvatore Cezar Pais.

Yo- if you work for the Navy or most anybody else, anything you come up with belongs to them!
A buddy of mine developed some gee-whiz stuff working as a Contractor for the AF Space Lab.
He got sideways with his boss, who wanted credit for the good news.
They both knew the new stuff belonged to the AF, but getting credit means increased profession credibility and possibly more money in the future.
