I have not been able to get a manufacturer of these devices to make a statement of their use with FO sights and night sites.

I have also contacted some sight manufacturers but have received no definite answers.

Has anyone used one with FO & night sights for a prolonged period (year +)? If so what were the ill effects if any?
Thanks
James

I don't have any experience with Tritium Sites and Ultrasonic cleaning, but I found it interesting that this cleaner, sold at Brownells, claims to be safe for night sites.

Night Site Safe Cleaners

From the product description:
Mfr: CREST ULTRASONIC

Powerfully Removes Gun Powder, Carbon Dirt & Oil In Just Minutes; Leaves Entire Firearm Clean & Lubricated

Specifically formulated for long lasting cleaning in ultrasonic units. Non-hazardous; water based, non-ammoniated cleaner; completely biodegradable, odorless, won’t hurt tritium sights and actually helps inhibit rust.

had mine(big unit I found at a gargage sale for $40) for 2 years, I have dumped many HK pistol slides in with NS's with no issues.

it may/will take off come of the color markings aftertime. Firbe optics I dunno...

also, dont use anything besides the stuff for a US cleaner, no Simple Green or homebrews, I use L&R cleaner and lube.

note....it will clean the gun so well even after the microlube that they need a GOOD oiling to get the parts moving again

that said, I love mine, its no faster but I can do other stuff, makes no stink, still need to clean the bore like normal and some scubing of lead is needed.

not for each time after the range IMOP

Just be aware, ultrasonic cleaners may get cleaning solutions where you may want them to go. And they may loosen things that you would expect to remain tight...

Think billions of tiny whacks with a tiny tool.
If you're not sure if the thing is working, try the foil test. A good cleaner will cause holes in a piece of aluminum foil in seconds.

also, dont put your fingers in when its running, does something bad to the joints or something

also heard that it may cause mirco cracks to enlarge over time, correct or not I dont know
