The ER doctor had said one break, wrapped her up like a mummy and gave her the name of a Orthopedic Doctor to see. Her computer had died several days before she was hurt and she has one being shipped to her so I got the job of checking out the doctor before we made a appointment

It paid off. He had about forty reviews of which about fifteen were not good, a few really bad. I started checking doctors close to us, I found a Doctor that had fifty reviews, all good but one and it was minor.

Her son took her to see him today and they were very impressed. He found that she also had a crack in the bone that was broken but that was not the bad part. I don't know what it is called but the plate like bone that covers the shoulder joint was broken. The Doctor her put in a more comfortable sling type deal still restricting her from arm movement, scheduled her for a return appointment in two weeks and is also scheduling her for therapy.

The really, really bad part is that he told her that if by Christmas the shoulder has not improved as hoped, he would think about some repair. He said that usually requires a metal plate and in most cases patients still have pain and that would be the last resort. I really hope and pray that it doesn't come to that.

My late wife shattered her elbow once. I saw the X rays and it was a mess. Needed titanium plates and screws as well as a cast. Then lots of therapy. Yhey thought she would loose some movement. But, because she really worked hard at the therapy she got all her mobility back and they went in and removed the metal.

The therapy hurts and takes time, but it is really an important part of healing up well. Encourage her when it comes to that.

That was good due-diligence on your part. I hope she is one of the lucky fast-healers among us and gets well sooner than expected.

"Scapula" commonly referred to the shoulder blade.
Three bones of the shoulder joint are the scapula, clavicle, and the humerus.

Scapula contains the "cup" it's called the Acromium, and the humerus has the ball.

Praying for a quick recovery.

Wishing her the very best! I have one now, two fractures, left arm fully cast, its coming off in a week. My first break, its been, well, it just sucks big time.

I hope that your arm has healed good and causes you no problem. I fell off of off a icy airplane wing and broke my right elbow. A long story and a mess. I still cannot completely straighten my arm and that has been about seventy years ago.
