UPS Ammo deliveries!

I've had a few thousand rounds at a time delivered at my old office. A couple of the drivers would smirk and give me guff about the weight.

I had 3 boxes of Wolf 7.62x39 delivered by UPS. The driver dropped one of the boxes on my drive and it broke open spilling most of it all over the place. He was kind enough to help pick it up. He wanted to know if I wanted to fill out a form for damaged goods. I told him it was o.k.

Like so many organizations these (UPS) drivers are the victims of others. Companies telling customers "you can order 2 days before Christmas and have delivery X-Mas eve". So it doesn't happen and guess who takes the flack? Remember the old days when the Fed's told the states to reduce the speed limit to 55? Who did the public blame? Who caught ****?. So here's to all those in management who make decisions/promises and pass it on to the workers to clean up the mess. And if it hasn't happened to you (yet) it's because you're to young.

A few years ago four of us at the same workplace were having quite a lot of ammo delivered there. The UPS guy made it clear that he thought we were running a "high speed, low drag" operation, but that it was OK with him.

I rcvd an order for some ammo the Monday before Christmas and the UPS driver did not require me to sign for it even though the order stated signature required. Guess they were too busy to mess with it. I think I scared him also. I didn't want the wife to see what I got so when he pulled into the driveway I went out the side door and walked up behind the truck. I met him as soon as he came out the side door. He looked a little skiddish. :-)

NO KIDDING! Pay attention kiddies, truth is spoken here:cool:

I have from time to time been known to take receipt of a order or two of ammunition delivered to the parsonage. The looks from the FedEd and UPS folks can be comical. With a bit of spare change in my pocket I once ordered a pile of .30-06 M-2 ball for use by my brother and myself. It came in nice .50 cal. ammo cans. Easy to unload... carry... stack. Cool. Another time a order of 7.62mm came arrived in nice wooden cases. Heavy to pick up, handle and move, but easy to stack. Same was true when I ordered Danish M-2 and HXP M-2 from the CMP. It always arrived in the nice wood cases. Heavy. Stacks well. The delivery folks have a understanding attitude. When I've shipped ammo, I always just left it under the carport for pickup. Never had a problem. Cool!

Just imagine if Amazon sold ammo. I think, but don't know, that they're on the anti- side of the gun argument. But if they did, you could order it today, get it tomorrow (or TODAY in some cases). And when you were placing the order, the web page would automatically show you -
"This item is available for $xx.xx at 5 other vendors for less"

The posters critical of UPS, their drivers, and their procedures have absolutely NO clue what the Christmas delivery season is like. I do. I worked there for 34 years.

Maybe so. I'll plead guilty. Now, explain what the problem is in mid July when I answer the doorbell 1.75 seconds after it rings only to see the UPS truck already burning rubber halfway down the block while my freshly delivered cardboard box sits on the stoop in the pouring rain.

In CA the UPS drivers may think you a nut for getting a package marked ORM-D Small Arms Cartridges. In TX the driver may ask, did you get a deal and where did you buy from.

Wonder what our guy thought of this. They don't wrap it, ya know. :D

Yeah, I remember my driver staggering up the front walk with two of those some time back. I think he gave up my route, I seem to get new drivers all the time.

my ups driver asked me how I was getting 22 ammo when the gun shops he delivers to can't get any. I did not have any problems getting ups deliveries over the holidays ,some of my orders actually came early.

That's a pretty good question. Maybe they're not selling to FFLs because they make more $$$ off the retail buyers?

OTOH I've only just started seeing .22LR available for backorder again. It was "No Backorders" for a long time.

Cabelas has had 22 ammo for the last couple of months on line , and with the free shipping promo's the price has been in the 4-5 cents range.
