There's a Gunsite 1911PD listed for sale locally. In the pictures the gun looks like new. Comes with original box and paperwork. Seller says its had 250 rounds put through it. Seller also says the he did not list a price as he's not sure what its worth. He's open to offers.

I probably can't afford it, but satisfy my curiosity, what would this gun be worth?

I have a Colt Gunsight 1911 I purchased in the '90's for $900, if I recall correctly.

I see a few of the S&W 1911pd's on Gunbroker with starting prices of about $900: however they haven't sold or gathered a bid.

The Colt was designed in consultation with Jeff Cooper. The S&W was not.

I bought one with no box or docks about 1 year ago for $750. Excellent shape it was.

I bought one new when they first came out. Nice enough pistol but nothing special except the logo. Small extractor, slick grips and the front strap is not checkered. To me a light weight commander needs checkering. Right from the get go the pistol ejected the spent cases into my forehead. Sent it back to Smith and now all is good. While taking a tour of Gunsite conducted by a very nice lady we were talking guns and it turned out she purchase the Smith Gunsite 45 and had the same problem with the cases being ejected towards the shooters forehead. She had their gunsmith fix the issue. So, I changed the grips and keep polishing that silly brass bead front sight.

They were about 800 dollars brand new. I have 2 of them. They were never big sellers for SW. They ran a 200 dollar mail in rebate at one point. Obviously to unload them.
