I really want one of these two 3rd gen Smiths. I carry a 3913 daily but would like to have the greater cap magazines of a 6900.

here's the question. Both seem to be in very good shape. I can get the 6906 for about $375. The 6904 looks very good but we are haggling on the price.

Both are round trigger guard models.

Assuming I can get the 6904 for about the same price, $375, which would have the higher value long term?

Or, better yet, which would you take and why?

And yes, buying both would be the best choice but her "Her Worship" feels that I am beginning to fixate on S&W handguns and feels that it may not be healthy for me to have too many of them.

I believe there

the 6904 is a blued slide, right? As for value, if its a carry gun, I'd go with the stainless slide on the 6906. I have a 5906, and a 6906. Love them both. My 439 has started to show a wee bit of pitting on the blued slide from carrying IWB.

I would go with the stainless version, the 6906. All of my S&W 3rd Generations are stainless (6906, CS40, CS45 and I hope soon to be added CS9), but that is a matter of preference.

Regardless of Blue or Stainless, the 6906 & 6904 are one of the most reliable firearms out there.

I also like the stainless for carry, but for the same price I would think about the 6904. The 6906s seem to be easier to find, and generally seem to cost less then the 6904s. If "Her Worship" allows the second purchase some time in the future, I think the 6906 might be a lot easier to find, and probably cheaper.

I know what you mean. The "War Department" has been raising an eyebrow on my purchases. But then again I give her an eyebrow when she shops at the Mall!

Wow, that's a really good point. I do see the 6906s on GB quite often also but never a 6904

Hmmmm..................................
