Violence protest shuts down Chicago interstate...

It's unbelievable that the mayor and police chief would actually take part in this BS - but, this mayor is a total ahole. He's up for re-election and has alienated every voting block so he tries to appeal to whatever group he's in front of. And the police chief doesn't open his mouth until the mayor tells him what to say.

The ironic thing is , is that the very problem that these protestors are concerned about starts in their neighborhood. It's their kids that are the drive by shooters and they know who all the gang bangers are but they won't cooperate with law enforcement and turn them in. Most of them have been on government assistance so long that they expect the government to take care of this problem too. Why help yourself when somebody else will do it for you ?
Chicago could very well become the next Detroit.

Father FFH is pastor of St. Sabinas church on Chicago's South side. It's a beautiful old church. FFH is a real piece of work. He's convinced himself that he's a modern day Moses leading his people from the depths of poverty to the promised land. From '47 to '65 I lived in Chicago 3/4's of a mile from St. Sabinas. When I was in HS we went to dances in the Church school gym. Today there's no way you could walk from the Church to my old house day or night without a problem.

IIRC, didn't St. Sabina's gain notoriety a few years back when other schools' athletic teams forfeited games rather than travel to that 'hood? Sounds like FFH needs to get his own house in order before casting stones at other peoples'.

I doubt the city has the authority to allow the closing of, and pedestrian presence on, an Interstate highway. They are almost always, if not always, under authority of some state agency, and IIRC, the feds have some pretty stringent rules about when and for what reasons those can be shut down.

I am sadly aware of the realities of mass arrests - but there were still good arguments for them, and no reason to charge those identifiable persons now that the road is clear.

A. Not enough troopers. Even there were, it doesn't take much to ignite a protest into a full scale riot.

Bring in the scoops! ;)
