VIRGIN ISLAND vs GUNS

I was going to comment that I hoped the Governor didn't get whiplash slamming his position into reverse so quickly. I rather doubt that they'll try any confiscations now, since Fox News and Tucker made it a national story. The NRA is already on it as well.

That Governor had more dance steps than Fred Astaire. He quibbled and obfuscated the entire interview, never giving a straight answer even though Tucker had a copy of the order and read it verbatim.

BS it may be (and is), but he's now gone on the record saying that there will be no gun confiscation from private citizens. If he renegs on that, he can expect a lot of back lash.

Did anyone hear the conversation Tucker Carlson had with the Gov. of V.I. tonight? When Carlson pressed the Gov about it there was a lot of fumbling and stumbling in his response and he (Gov) finally said if the National Guard was short of ammo or guns they were authorized to go into retail stores and buy what they needed. Can anyone say Bravo Serra?

I listened to T. Carlson's interview with the V.I. Governor and the look of disbelief on Carlson's face as the governor danced all around the question was priceless! This Governor made have just set a new standard for obfuscation!

When people were trying......

When people were trying to get to their property on the islands after Hugo a friend told me he heard full auto fire one night.

People were REALLY pissed that they wouldn't let anybody back on the island.

Why am I not surprised, and why won't I be surprised tomorrow when a certain person at work brings it up and starts ranting?:D

Probably for the same reasons you aren't surprised to see people ranting and arguing about it here.

I wonder if Richard Branson surrendered his guns??? Hmm???

Branson lives on a private island (Necker Island) in the British Virgin Islands, not the U.S. Virgin Islands. Whether or not he even has any guns there is a matter of conjecture.

What does this have to do with the continental US.

Nothing.

This has been debunked as fake news FYI

No, it has not.

There must be something here that I'm missing, I'm not sure how this is "fake news"...

You aren't missing a thing. People will misinterpret something one way, then other people will misinterpret something else another way. And that just leads to one contradictory and pointless discussion after another with everyone getting their bowels in an uproar.

I can't say for sure simply because I don't know, but I have a feeling that if Irma devastates the U.S.V.I. to the degree it did other islands, I'm thinking the last thing the national guard or any other agency will be occupied with is going door to door taking guns from people. And if someone's home is flattened into a pile of rubble only a foot high, they'll be doing good to even find their gun.

When dealing with government agencies, lender's counsels and/or legal documents I always went by what they COULD do, not what they said they would do. I'm sure I was probably cussed about a lot for it. The Governor of the Virgin Islands was probably mad that he got caught before he could order any gun seizures.

Sounds to me like Gov. Kenneth Mapp needs to allocate money to equip his national guard.

What's the best caliber for a hurricane anyway?
