Was just reading about the renewal process for a Florida permit, and it got me to thinking about the possibility of Vitter - Thune coming back up for a vote in the senate. I'd think it would have a pretty good chance of passing this time ..... in spite of my two wonderful senators.

There is a discussion on the Vitter-Thune (aka Interstate Reciprocity) amendment in the 2A forum. I hope the same or similar amendment is added to the next Defense Auth bill and that it passes.

Thanks .... I spotted that as well about 5 minutes after posting this. I knew that I couldn't be the only one on here that was thinking about this. My biggest letdown in the last vote on this was Sen. Gillebrands NO vote. As a state rep., she was very pro gun ... NRA ... 2nd Ammendment etc. After being appointed by the governor to fill the senate seat ( Clinton ) .. she took 2 big helpings of Schumer KoolAid.

I do NOT want the Federal Govt involoved in ANY way! They WIll overstep, and set Frederal standards within a year. Some states will simply drop out of any kind of carry.

I think you make a good point and i think it violates the 10th Amendment even though I wished all States had reciprocity.

What one needs to watch for with this type Fed law is uniformity.

They can require firearm training by states issuing permits. Many states do not require anything more than walking in and signing your name. Some states do not require a permit.

The Feds could change that with a law requiring anyone with a permit be trained deeper background checks and such.
