I can recognize only Diamond Head and the Moana-Surfrider Hotel.
Both are still there today.

I bet that was a happy day for every body. I don't remember I was only 3 years old. The USA banded together and got the job done. We need to do it again. Don

I was 8 and staying in Mattituck, Long Island, NY and the siren in town which usually only went off at noon every day except for fires just kept on howling all afternoon but Times Square in NYC was jumping and where that famous photo of the kissing sailor was taken.

Think I was going into the 9th grade about then. Remember it well, Jimmie Durante singing "I'll be seeing you". Big hit song during WW2. Our science teacher later that year was a survivor of the battle of the Bulge. He taught Calif. Cadet Corps, sort of a pre runner of ROTC. He told us to get ready for more war. Of course we didn't believe him. Then Korea came along & the training we received from him came in handy.
