Walmart has 1400 rd buckets of Rem. 22’s

DON'T BUY. The rich are counting on us to be STUPID......

I guess you're right. I have 4K Federal 36 gr HP's rhat are probably 10+ y/o. That was "bulk purchased" when 550 rd Wallyboxes were $9. I bought 2 5250 rd cases in 2019 fo a total of $360 after rebates, I'll be using them in a year or 2. Back in 1966 my dad bought for me the same ammo for $.59/ box 50 from R&S stores. Inflation calculator says today that would be $5.12, right where it is. If'n I needed it I'd get it, as usual. Joe

The CCI Standard I bought was $32 per 1000 last spring at Larry's West in Madison Alabama . It is without a doubt the worst most inconsistent garbage I have ever bought . Every round I tried fired but it is like every powder charge is different . That's not a good deal at any price .

I read where a guy had bought several boxes of Remington 30-30 ammo and when he got to the range with it over half of the first box would not fire. Never had but very little problem with CF ammo but I have loaded since I started shooting and very seldom buy factory stuff . I did buy 2 boxes of Remington 25-20 but only did it because you can't find new brass . What of it I have shot has been as good as it ever was . Was told when I bought it that the discount price I got was because it had been on the shelf for over 5 years and they would be glad to see it find a home . Regular price then was $65-$85 per box and they sold it to me for $45 per box . I would have gladly bought 10 boxes but they only had the 2.

I guess a bad batch of CCI SV makes it of the factory occasionally, but this probably happens with most other ammos as well. I've used little besides CCI SV in handguns and rifles for a long time now, buying it by the case.
About a year ago, I had one round that didn't fire with the first pull of the trigger. That was a first and only with this ammo for me after using a lot of it for twenty years or more.

CCI SV is not the most accurate in every gun I own but it's pretty accurate in most. Overall, for ammo in it's price range, I'll take it over the others.

I wouldn't blame the machinery for lousy 22 ammo. They had no trouble making reliable ammo before on same machine. The problem is with the priming compound. They are either short stroking on material or the priming operation itself. If you pull a dud you will find the powder charge is ok. I don't think there has been a rash of squibs. Just failure to fire, some fire after repeated strikes.
As far as shelf life, there is no big difference if any. The price will come down when the pilgrims quit buying, same as guns. I've seen things sell recently that were a joke. Franken guns selling for more than originals.
It's crazy out there, a bunch of people need their credit cards canceled.
