The email when in stock is a joke, but their inventory seems to be spot on for my recent finds. I have used it with success in the last 5 weeks... and have several thousand rounds of 22LR to show for it. Today I scored the last box of Federal using the site, but just missed out on some 1000 round Winchester M-22 black boxes as they were sold before I got there (only had 4 at $49.99 each). Now if someone would just trade me some long mags for some ammo I would be good to go lol.

I have also checked walmart online and when I have gone down to the store or called some clerks say the web site is wrong,,,,but i have had other clerks act like it was a secret and they had it and would magicly go in the back and come out with 3 boxs of ammo for me....guess its who you know at the store if you can get anything......

Here's my WalMart online inventory experience:

Generally it's pretty accurate. There seems to be a 15-30 minute delay once they sell out before the website is updated. I know this because I've checked the online inventory, bought the rest that was on the shelf, then checked 15-30 minutes later and it has changed to out of stock. I've seen some stores listed as Limited Quantity, and for me that has meant they are out. I have also seen some items listed in stock for weeks that I know they don't have. The biggest indicator of whether they actually have stock is if an item went from "out of stock" to "available."

Now around me there is one WalMart in my town, 3 in the town 20 minutes north, and 3 in the town 40 minutes south. So when I check an item for my store and it has the "Find in another store" option I see a few different locations at once. For my store it seems that they get their shipment about a day behind the others if some ammo comes trickling in. If I can't make it to one of the stores north or south of me when they show stock, I check back later to see if my local store has it.

One issue is when you know they have stock and they don't. This usually happens when you notice something go from out of stock to available, but you check the ammo cabinet and it's not there. I found one evening that some 223 was listed as in stock after it had been out for weeks. Went into the store and found the spot on the shelf was empty. Asked one of the employees to scan it with their handheld and they said it was listed as "wharehouse out." He explained that it meant it was in transit to the store and they were expecting a truck that would probably be unloaded at around 3am (this was 10pm). I got up in the morning and went back and there was no one from sporting goods available to help me, but another employee scanned the tag again and said it was listed as on hand. But only a sporting good person can apprently retrieve it to stock the shelves and sell it. I had an appointment to go to so I left and came back later. Once I got back I asked the on duty sporting goods person and they said they had received some but that it had already sold out. Unfortunately that particular item has showed in stock ever since so I'm not sure if it will be replenished. I should have pushed to have a manager check on that one.

The three stores to the north also showed stock so I went up there and found that the first store did have stock and bought some, the second store had only a couple left so I bought them, and the third store had a grumpy old guy working. At the third store I couldn't find a sporting goods person so I asked someone in toys and they scanned the tag for me. They didn't say what the scanner told them, but that they would get someone to help me (seemed like a good sign to me that it was showing in stock). Unfortunately the guy just came over and said they hadn't had any for weeks...didn't even scan it even though I insisted. He said he had done the morning inventory, but from my experience I don't know that I trust that.

Next week I see the 3 stores to the north have some other ammo in stock again, so I head up and the first one they guy is just opening up the box to stock the shelf so I got a few there. The second store didn't have it out, but I asked the guy there and he found where they keep the ammo before it gets put out and was surprised to see that they actually did have it. He stocked the shelf and let me buy my 3 boxes, and thanked me for letting me know they had it in stock. Third store had already put theirs out and had sold a couple, but there was still some for me.

I've never had the e-mail alert feature let me know that ammo has come back in stock.

I just found it to be pretty accurate- said a store had "in stock" and I got there, bought my 3 box limit, the guy behind me got the last 2. I got home and it updated on the website saying "out of stock". All of this took place under an hours time.

I was up around 4 am yesterday and saw that the walmart that was less than a mile from me had .223 american eagle in stock. My father who was in town visiting came with and we each walked out with 3 boxes (limit). They still had about 20 boxes left.

It is nice to see that it is slowly coming back.

Inventory time is over. :)

After checking daily for several weeks, the Wally World Web Watch finally paid off.:D

I was doing my regular online ammo search today and the Wally World site listed 325 count 22LR Federal Match packs as in stock and the site had been updated today.

Made the call, verified that they were being unloaded from the truck and would be stocked within the hour.

Made the drive, and sure enough, as I walked up the clerk at the sporting goods counter was unboxing the fresh ammo. Picked up 3 boxes. Hope to return tomorrow for 3 more.

They received a case of the Federal match, 2 bricks of Win Super X 22LR, a case of brass cased 50 count 223 Tulammo, some assorted 40 cal, and some 9mm. Looked like a decent ammo order.

I've never seen brass cased Tulammo before, if it wasn't for the 3 box limit I would have picked up a couple boxes to try out.

problem here is its gone as fast as it comes in. got my max allowed, per walmat policy, of cci tactical 22lr They had a case of federal bulk on tuesday, damaged in shipping unsellable. keep hopes up. they are getting ammo.

I had luck this weekend while I was out of town visiting family. I went online and checked inventory of the local Walmart's on the way. I managed to pick up over 3,000 rounds.

Well, for me it worked just yesterday, got exactly what I was waiting for all the time, CCI Mini Mags, 300 rounds. (3 Boxes)

I was able to pick up CCI mini mags as well. I just happened to be in the right place (Walmart) at the right time.

I would say that the Wally World web site is usually correct. However, I had it go wrong over this past weekend. My local store was out of stock on Saturday but by Sunday morning it said it was back in. When I drove over there it was not on this shelf. The associate I spoke with said he didn't have any but when I told him the web site said in stock he looked in the back room. No dice. The web site didn't seem to be updated since it said it was in stock several times I checked afterward.

So, this morning (Monday) the web site still says they are back in stock again. Since it was on my way, I figured I'd check back again. Sure enough I see 5 boxes there. I ask the associate about them and she gives me this funny look. Well, they are for sale aren't they? Yes, but the person over there wants to buy them. You have a 3 box per person policy don't you? Well, yes. Well, give me the other two. Well, the other guy has asked us to check with the manager if he can take all of them. The manager on the phone ok's this. The dude knew there were other customers, didn't care, left.

Now normally I wouldn't care either. He was there first. But the store does have a 3 box per person policy and the story he told to get all 5 was complete BS.

Post note. Sure enough the web site now correctly shows out of stock. Sometimes you just can't win.

I just stop in every day. Today they had gotten 2 AR's in. The other day I scored some Win. M-22 LR 1000 pack boxes.

Yep. I do the same thing. Scored a Bushmaster Patrol AR last week that I didn't even really need simply because I Walked in and it was coming off the cart at less than suggested retail. I couldn't just let it sit in the cabinet so I did the right thing and took her home.

Now she lives beside my M&P15. They seem happy together. Along with my DPMS AR and my M&P15/22. Hey! You can't never tell when you might run across something what needs shootin'! :D

LOL... I love this.

So, for you guys who go every day, is there a good time of the day?

WOOOHOOO!!!!

Thanks for the tip. Just scored 3 boxes of Federal Auto Match for $14/box. Limit was 3. 9 boxes on the shelf, got my 3, less than 2 minutes later they were gone! Thanks for the tip. It works, just need to be close when they show up as available.
