Warning-- Dillon Precision!!!!!!

Hornady has the same no bs replacement of anything no matter what is wrong. For life!!! And that includes anything they have their name attached to.

Wow! This is breaking News to bring back a 3 year old thread on Dillon.!

But it must be in error as nothing can be wrong with a Dillon.

Did you have to pay the shipping to send it back?

I had a RCBS collet from a Collet die bullet puller that was not letting go of the bullet. I called RCBS and they sent me a new one that very day. Amazing!

Well since the thread is alive again I will give you another interesting story.

In 1989 I went through a nasty divorce but then I suppose they all are. My then, wife and her new boy toy, out of spite took my 6 month old Dillon RL550B and proceeded to give it a lot of attention with a sledgehammer.

After getting the box of pieces I called Dillon and then shipped it to them, expecting to be called and told it was non-repairable or that the cost would exceed a new one. 9 days later I got home and found a box from Dillon on the front porch with a brand new RL 550B.

Total cost $0.00 This is truly a NO B.S. company. Since that time they have either sent replacement parts or had me ship to the for overhaul.

Overhaul, you ask! Well with 2,136,128 pistol rounds and 490,794 rifle rounds in 19 total calibers (yes I keep records of every round produced) it is entitled to some tender loving care.

Total cost of repairs since 1989 is a little over $150.00 and all of that is for shipping costs to Dillon for their free No BS repairs.

I have never found a reason or desire to purchase any reloading hardware except for "Big Blue"

Food for thought:

What separates a good shooter from a great shooter?

A good shooter will practice to the point of consistently hitting his point of aim.

A GREAT shooter practices to the point where he "cannot miss" his point of aim.

I just sent my RL 1000 to Dillon to be looked at. I don't know if they will be repairing it or replacing it but I know that their representative said they will have to look at it to see if it is repairable or if I may be looking at other options.

I had a problem with the same Dillon digital scales. Dillon said that its warranty was one year on that particular unit. That's not too bad for electronics.

I also found that they sold some of those units at super bargain prices, and with a limited warranty. The warranty of these units depands on the serial number.

I was able to easily fix my scales by disassembling it, cleaning it, and putting it back together. I've put my Dillon scale through 5 lifetimes of tough use, and after a 10 minute repair - it's still working today.

I'm curious, what was "wrong" with the scale that a cleaning (of what?) was able to fix?

OK ! This Dillon bashing is getting Old... :D :D

I've had a Dillon 550 on my reloading bench since the late 80's.
Now I have two.
However, I have to admit the operating cost is very expensive..
When I started reloading on my single stage many years ago. I would buy bullets and primers by the hundred, powder by the pound.
When I got the Dillon, all of a sudden , I was having to get primers by the ten thousand, bullets by the thousands, and powder by the jug.
Plus there is the social impact,, my mailman now hates me because of the heavy boxes ( bullets ) he has to delivered to my house.

Ahhhhh ,, just took another drink of blue cool-aid,, :D

Wow,, Just realized !! It's Not the government ,, or the manufacturers / suppliers ,, or global warming causing the Reloading Component Shortages...

IT'S DILLON !!!

If it wasn't for Dillon, and everybody was still using their single stage presses. People would still be buying components by the hundred, rather than the tens of thousands.. It's all Dillons fault !

Ahhh, another drink of blue cool-aid :D

I LOVE MY DILLION XL650

;)
I want to warn everyone and encourage them not to purchase any Dillon products unless they are really ready to accept and experience their no BS warranty and outstanding Customer Service.
.
I have been dealing with Dillon Precision since 1984 and purchase the RL650 when it first came out. Over the years I have had minor problems with it that was normally resolved over the telephone and the arrival of some small parts in the mail.
.
Two weeks ago my 650 ran into what I considered a major problem. The ram would only raise to within 2 inches of the dies and stop. I disassembled the machine, lube and checked everything, reassembled it and No joy the same problem existed. I repeated the disassembles and reassembly again without any joy.
.
Remember this machine is over 15 years old.
.
I boxed it up and sent it to Dillon with a detailed letter of what I was experiencing. Since it was the Christmas season I was guarding my credit card spending waiting for Dillon to call me and tell me what it was going to cost for repairs. I didn't disassemble the 650 when I sent in to them because I wanted them to see exactly what is was doing.
Today it arrived. No cost covered under warranty. they included a list of part they replaced. Now there is unexpected Joy.
.

That is the reason that on my reloading bench resides, two 650's, a 550b, that has been upgraded from a 450 years ago, a Dillon electric scale, a Dillon Beam scale. and a Dillon primer pocket swagger. All the reloaders are equipped with the Dillon low primer warning system and the Dillon powder check system. I also use the Dillon Dies. I had been using the other brand named dies in the Dillon presses but had determined that for flawless operation the Dillon dies was what I preferred. I still use the other named brand dies when I use my single stage press.
.
Kudos to Dillon for their Customer Service

PS I had a large Dillon Vibratory Case Cleaner that only lasted 27 years and had more then 1,000,000 cases ran through it. Replaced under warranty in 2011

I agree wouldn't purchase any other brand then Dillon everything I purchase from now on will be Dillon equipment they believe in there equipment and if you don't own a Dillon press you simply own junk !

In most states I think that is still called solicitation and illegal. Not too sure I want them going out of business just right now as I have a bunch of their stuff and may have warranty issues.

And their stuff is good enough without the smut.

But it doesn't hurt!!!

I do agree those girls should do house calls, but only to repair the presses.

I wondered why it took all the way to post #36 to mention the eye candy. For those of us who don't need any more Dillon products, it's still fun to get the monthly mag and browse.....

I saw the title and thought "Oh no----this guy is not happy"!

As usual, it was good news and good news only. I am extremely happy with my 2 650's and the service I have received.

I also like the OP have total Dillon reloading equipment. I've read literally hundreds of positive comments to include many other forums. Only "once" did I read of a stupid comment blaming the OEM and that guy truly had his head up his rear. Dillon holds their customer service and no BS to the extreme hands down.

I have 2 Dillon SDB, any time I have a broken or worn out part I call them and a few days later the parts arrive---FREE. Now that is customer service.
I have the same setup. Besides fast delivery of (free) replacement parts they are super helpful on the phone when you have issues.

10 years ago the other big name (some started as family businesses and probably still are) used to mail replacement parts like decapping pins or other small pieces free with a Thank You for using our products. I just needed to replace a decapping pin. Called the company and they referred me to Midwayusa. Ended paying over $15 for a "maintenance kit" with 3 pins and some other small parts that used to be free. Add shipping to that. I have at least a half dozen of their die sets on my shelf. I won't be buying anymore.
