When I asked several large dealers about people not buying S&W revolvers because of the lock said it has not made any impact on sales of S&W revolvers and that their sales of S&W revolvers has been very strong and only real complaints being about price.
However all shops stated that even with the high prices that sales were strong and those that were price buyers often bought another brand with built in locks and the most common brand bought was Taurus.
When I asked about the people buying or hunting for pre-lock used guns the answer was basically the same, not any real calls except for some classic old models that have been dropped. Had one shop that said they never get any pre-lock guns or anyone asking for a pre-lock S&W revolvers. The guy said there is always a few "purest" that didn't like something about some new guns, and said something about Glock and something they changed that was a big deal improvement but a very small group of owners were outraged.
This has made me think back to Colt 1911 models when the '70's, '80's and '90's changes came about that some Colt fans think it has made those 3 gun models junk.
