I also picked up an early 1911 while there, shipped April 16, 1912 to US Army, Springfield Armory. Low 4 digit serial number #22xx.

Over the years I've had a pair like that, just not both at the same time. Although I owned an early one with the half round front sight back in the nineties, I foolishly let it get away from me. I finally got a late serrated front ramp version sometime in the early oughts when I just couldn't do without a baby around the house.

I'm impressed with that 1912 vintage Model 1911 as well. It even has the rare lanyard loop magazine in place. I guess we would call it a "1911 No Dash"?
