Well, I'm it....mom passed peacefully last night in her sleep. She was the last of my children's grandparents to go. My wife and I are now the head old people as far as my branch goes. It is life.
I have always told my children that we are born with but two jobs in our lives if we are lucky. The first being to raise one's children to adulthood and the second being to bury our parents. Well, I will complete my final task that means anything in about a week and then we'll see what unfolds from here. Not feeling anything but numbness right now but I expect the sadness will show up soon enough. Going feral for a while to sort it all out....will check back when I get ready.

My condolences Gary. I know what you’re going through.

My mother passed over 20 years ago and dad about 7 years before her. I still miss them.

My prayers are for you family. So that you all can cope with the loss. As for your mom, I suspect she has little need for my prayer. She raised you and lived to tell the tale. That in itself should have garented her a pass to the express lane through the pearly gates.

Seriously, I am sorry for your loss.

My condolences. May her memory be a blessing to you and your family.

As my life long friend said last year when my Mother in Law died, "Well, she was the last of them. We're in the On Deck Circle any more, it's our turn at the plate."

They took care of us when we needed it, now it's our turn to take care of them. What we do sets the example for the generation coming up behind us.

Good luck.

Sorry about your Mom.

You did find a rather interesting way about talking about your unwanted new position on the ladder of life!
