Well looks like I might get a sig 239 since I can't find a 3913.What do you think?

Probably sacrilege here, but I've no experience with the 3913.

I have, however, carried a Sig P239 just about every day for the last 6-7 years. Once I found a good holster (TTGunleather IWB) it's been pretty easy to carry and conceal even though I'm 6'-1" , 165lbs and don't ever wear much more than shorts and a golf type shirt (except for these couple of Texas winter months

). That's even with the +1 extended mags (for 357Sig only) that came out of some agency overrun.

When God and John Moses Browning got together to develop the semi auto pistol they agree it should be built out of steel. I concour.

What did they think about aluminum?
Nobody likes all steel 1911s, Brownings and such more than I do but God doesn't have to lug one of the heavy things around all day.
Painful though it may be to admit pistols like the M&P work well, shoot well and carry well.

So get whatever, but DON'T STOP LOOKING FOR NICE 3913! Put some Hogue rubber grips on it and see what all the excitement is about. You CAN'T have mine!
You pick it up, grab the grip, sort of wiggle it around and say...Wow! Now that feels like a pistol should! Shoots like it too.

But hey that's just me...

Keep looking for a 3913....the hunt and wait are well worth the endeavor. The hunt is a big part of the fun. There are several in local shops here in Montana so they can't be THAT difficult to find. I'd be happy to provide contact info if your interested.......

Either should be fine choices, but what do YOU want? Is there a reason you have to get one or the other right now? If you have your heart set on a 3913, I'd say wait until you find one. Nothing worse than buying something you "settled for" and then finding what you really wanted later and not having the funds to cover it (if that is an issue for you).

FWIW:

I bought a 9mm Sig P239 new when they first hit the market, and it was always very accurate, always reliable and a very nice firearm.

My only problem with the Sig was that I never 100% felt "comfortable" with the "long trigger", and eventually sold it. I wasn't bright enough to realize there is a "short trigger" for it, and I could have bought one and had a gunsmith swap it out for me and probably still own it.. My bad.

Having said that I replaced my P239 with a 3913LS, and a little later a CS9, and I consider the trade off (for me) a good one. I'm a TDA guy, and either of the Smiths seem to "fit" my hands better than the Sig.

It seems EVERYONE loves the 3913, and the CS9 gets very little love, UNLESS it happens to fit your hands perfectly, as my CS9 does mine.

You won't be dissatisfied with either the P239 or the 3913.

One option available for the P239 and not the 3913LS is the Crimson Trace Lasergrip. I had a set on my P239.

Best Wishes,

Jesse

There is an older 3913 in a local (Billings,Montana) gun shop that is in VERY nice condition if that would help you out. Would be happy to provide contact info if you would like. Think he was around $425.00 on it. I have purchased many firearms from him and can honestly say that the owner is a straight shooter in all aspects. He will treat you RIGHT!!!
