Well ****!

Post a No-Trespassing sign and threaten to sue.

Got smacked by two hurricanes (Frances and Jeanne) in 2004. Cat 2 and Cat 3.

I live just to the North side of Baton Rouge . Ready and waiting ..

I had Hummingbird activity this morning too . I took the feeder down to keep it from being smacked around later but I had to go put it back up . They kept buzzing around looking for it .

Good morning y'all. Looks like to me that Caj is gonna get a smack dab in the middle hit. I'm going to be on the west side by around 30-40 miles and luckily for me, I'm not nearly as close to the coast as Caj. I spent most of the day yesterday getting ready for the storm, picking up and buttoning up the house and yard. I just finished shutting my storm shutters a little while ago and now it's just a waiting game. I got plenty of supplies; around 40 gallons of gas and most of a 1.75 liter of Wild turkey and a fifth of Knob Creek Single Barrel. :D I plan to cook some beef stew later this morning so I won't have to worry about cooking later during the height of the storm.

I know the feeling. Been more than once I’ve woke up in the morning just to find the NHC had drawn a dotted line down the middle of the living room.
Called ‘em up and complained, they told me to shut my pie hole or they would send Jim Cantore up my way!

Seriously, though I’m sure you know the drill, be careful. Jump back on when you can and let us know how y’all are doing.

We were looking at 3-5 inches of rain all the way up here in central Arkansas. It appears to be tracking more eastward for landfall, so the big rains look to be in store for Mississippi and the Arkansas Delta.

I can say with some measure of certainty that when one of these storms hits the Louisiana coast, and the rain tracks all the way north to Arkansas, it is generally a bad one.

We could use the rain, but not at the expense of our brothers and sisters in Louisiana. These storms generally break the death grip of summer up here and usher in cooler temperatures. Fortunately our weather cooled a bit a couple of weeks ago.

I hope Gary will check in when he can. You can already feel the storm in air here in Central Arkansas. God bless anyone in it’s path.

It's been drizzling all day long here around Loreauville, LA. Winds have been slowly picking up all day and I would estimate them around 20-25 mph right now. Just a nasty day altogether.

It hasn't been too bad here so far. It's probably worse over where Caj lives though, as they are much closer to where the eye wall came in. Lucky for us there is a significant amount of dry air being injected into the storm from the jet stream, which is disrupting the formation of a complete eye wall. As for Caj, this storm is also coming in to the east of him too, which should minimize his wind damage, hopefully.

Things are winding down now. This one wasn't bad at all for us. Winds might have gotten up to 50 mph in gusts and we never lost power either. I'd guess winds are now around 15-20 mph and the rain is almost finished with. I imagine Caj got it a bit worse than me though, so don't be surprised if it takes him a day or 2 to get back online.

We had a storm blow through earlier this year that was much rougher than this hurricane. Had 70-80 mph winds hit us for around 30 minutes and tore some trees up. All I saw in the yard tonight is one small branch out of a cypress tree.

I'm just North of Baton Rouge . Light rain . Windy . Lost power for about 25 minutes but it came back . Lots of outages in the area . My neighbor lost a huge Pine tree . I have a lot of little stuff on the ground . I hope this thing gets out of here quickly .

If it stays on the same tract you'll get to see the cloudless sky with very little wind as the eye passes over. You will be able to go outside with your Scotch in hand and your Bermuda shorts for a few minutes and survey your damage and then the wind will change to the opposite direction and it will start up again. I know this because I saw this during Camille. If it stays the same we will be in the NE Quadrant and possibly entertained by tornadoes. Hopefully it will fizzle out some. The good news is, Rouse's has their 13 OZ. bags of Coffee and Chicory on sale for $2.99 (I've tried to contact you about this) if all of their glass isn't blown out and their computers still work. Maybe you can get there tomorrow before it gets bad. I put ten of them in the freezer Friday. My prediction: I've noticed that most Gulf Hurricanes do what I call the the "Hurricane Crawl". It seems that as the storm hits land the hurricane is dragged eastward as the counter clockwise storm seems to "drag" Eastward as it hits land. This seems to move the eye 30 to 50 miles East. I wonder why the weather gurus never seem to notice this. We'll see what this one does. I've got four chainsaws and charge bourbon, gas, and a place to crash (I know you have emergency food) for my services....if my place isn't too messed up. Good luck!

As predicted, it made the "crawl."
