Hi all,

Curious if you can tell me what I'm looking at here. It's a 15-3 with wide target hammer, a full length Aristocrat sight run (with ears on either side of the front sight blade), and a trigger that has been worked over with a very light SA break (guessing around 1 - 1.5 lbs). What would this habe been used for, and any idea if the $699 price is reasonable? Does this barrel look like anything someone can tell me about? Not sure if this is an old bullseye gun or something else. Thanks!

Yep - PPC = Police Pistol Combat. Used to shoot PPC matches with. These guns are normally very accurate and mostly used with light target wadcutter loads. That is a reasonable price if the gun shoots well. Not knowing the history, the barrel may be worn out, or it may have years to go. It takes somewhere between 80,000 and 120,000 rounds to wear one out, in my experience.

Shot a gazillion rounds of 148 grain hollow based wadcutters through one just like it. PPC matches are not as common since US LEO transitioned to semi autos, but there is still a following.

It's a specialized piece, for sure, but with the right ammo, it'll shoot!

My last one, with the preferred ammo (Federal Match), would shoot inside an inch and a half at 50 yards from a Ranson Rest all day long.

I bought my last PPC gun in the early 80's and I paid more for it than the asking price on this one.........:)

Fair price? Well, it's a shooter not a collector piece. The PPC's don't seem to go for much. The sport isn't what it used to be. I'd say it's $200 high from what I've seen them go for. But these are all one-of-a-kind guns so it's hard to say. I can tell you the guy that built it probably spent more than that on it. But that's his problem.

I'd say mechanical condition is everything. End shake, gap, timing.......
