What are you carrying your J Frames in?

I have been known to carry a Colt DS. I often carry it in a DeSantis pocket holster. It is fast and pretty much invisible. I also use a Hume behind the hip holster which works well.

I've owned a couple of Kramers for my Beretta 92, a cowhide #2 IWB and a horsehide Vertical Scabbard. While I can appreciate the excellent build quality of Kramer holsters, they seem particularly unforgiving if you're a bit thick in the middle(which I am...). Neither were very comfortable for long, so they were replaced by a Milt Sparks VM2.

I'm getting my CC permit soon, as I just finished the classroom portion tonight(got a 100 on the written), and will carry my Model 49 mostly. For now all I have is the Uncle Mike's #3 it came with. I'd like some decent leather, either IWB or other style. Anyone using a leather paddle-style holster with their J-frame? I tried a Galco paddle with my Beretta once, and it was bloody awful. Too much gun to hang on a hard, sharp(at least to me), inflexible piece of plastic. I'm no fan of Fobus, either.

When working, I carry my 642 in an Uncle Mike' Belly Band Holster attached to my body armor strap. The holster works great and I almost never know it is there.

When off-duty, I carry a Glock 26 in a OWB holster, but I recently picked up a Galco Ankle Glove Holster for the 642 and have been wearing both. I must say, the Galco is very, very comfortable. A frequent comment is that you hardly even know it is there and I agree. I wore is for an entire day and have no complaints.

My third option is the Uncle Mikes Pocket Holster, and the several times I have carried it in my pocket, it felt fine.

A $10 Uncle Mikes Neoprene holster in my front pocket, you can draw the gun out and the holstrer stays in place.

I carry my 442 in a Blackhawk! no 3 sportster holster. I think it was 10 bucks at Walmart. Works great, in my pocket now!

For pocket carry, generally a DeSantis Nemesis (size N3) . . . but sometimes the Uncle Mike's Size 3 . . . all depending on the shape of the front pocket.

Have both of those and just ordered a Lobo Gun Leather pancake holster and a belt.

For belt carry, the leather "UPL" (Upper Limit) by Mitch Rosen. I bought it used on this forum. What an incredible fit and finish the Rosen has.

That is a nice looking holster. The ride height looks just about perfect (I like the cylinder more-or-less in line with the belt) and I like the contour of the holster mouth.

How's the retention?

I prefer to carry IWB, but I may have to look into that Rosen UPL.

Yes, and it seems to work well for me.

I only use IWB and pocket holsters at this point, and the vast majority of the time I use my IWBs cross-draw instead of strong side. I don't know why, other than that's just somehow what I got used to. Also, in my case they seem to conceal better that way.

Thanks, I have a 22+ hour each way road trip coming up soon and that is the only thing I can find locally. Normally I use a pocket holster. They are not the easiest to access when you seat belted in.

What do you call a S&W with Taurus grips? Nice looking setup.

The Taurus grips cover the blackstrap (which I need for my long fingers) and don't have the pinky extension which makes pocket carry easier for me.

I'm not a Taurus fan but I really like their grips.

It's a Gazelle #61. Made in England and one of my favorite IWB holsters.

I use the Galco King-Tuk for IWB carry. I used a clip-draw for a while but found that the gun does not stay secure and the clipdraw was only good for apendix cary. worn at 3 or 4 o clock it would shimmy up and literally fell out one day. it has since been replaced!

I was using a Clipdraw and I love where the gun rides and the convenience. I live where it's hot and hate for the gun to be bathed in sweat, lost the wood panels, they'll turn into mush, I also wanted the gun to be dry.

I'm onto an Uncle Mikes nylon IWB and like it so far. I admire and love those beautiful leather holsters you guys have but they would be mush here too. I do construction type work and carry. For me the nylon doesn't soak up sweat too much, gun stays dry, and they are cheap, ruin one and for 12 bucks I can get another. I do like for the cylinder to be at the beltline, I'm not worried about reholstering, when the shootins' done there will be plenty of time to reholster, or just stick it in your pocket. If the outcome isn't good no need to worry about gettin it back in the holster.

Just my 2cents worth.
