Using 32 H&R Magnum/Long dies from RCBS. Naturally the die cannot roll crimp the shorts. I started looking around and a little lost. What are you guys using? I've got some good load data just need the dies and or crimp die. Thanks

I bought a .32 S&W seat/crimp die from RCBS for use with my regular .32 S&W Long die set.

Funny you should ask.

Just this past Saturday, I loaded about 80 .32 S&W's with some range pick-up brass I scrounged. I have a .32 Hand Ejector (.32 Long), but like to tinker around with the short ones now and then. I resize with .32 Long dies, flare the case with .32 ACP expander die.

I use 1.5 grains of Bullseye with a Lee 93 grain RN sized to .311. To crimp (and they need mighty little), I run them slightly up into a Lee .308 bullet sizing die......unorthodox but it works great.

Does a .32 short really need crimped. LOL.

I always have, just like all my revolver loads. But since you mentioned it I was wanting to do some experimenting with this...maybe if I get the time.

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to do what Jellybean did. RCBS mailed me back yesterday. The 32 S&W seat/crimp die is a tad expensive but I would rather put a nice roll crimp on them.

Well I just found one better. Hornady makes a seating/crimp die for the 32 S&W. Best part is it's $18.95. I called Hornady and it's a roll crimp die made for the short 32 S&W. So I'll give it a try.

I've been using the Lee 32 S&W die set for years with good service. In fact I am set up and doing several hundred as we speak. I cast Lyman 313249, soft and sized .313. Works beautifully in my Colts and my Smiffs.

When I bought my size/crimp die the only one available was the RCBS, and it was a special order only item. It cost more than a whole die set at the time.

Thanks to the cowboy action shooting crowd a lot of old calibers are making a comeback and tools, components and data, for them are getting easier to come by. I just wish they'd add the .41 action express to some of their side matches.

I had the crimp problem in another caliber, but the solution was to chuck the seater die into a lathe and reduce the length. It'll still work on the original cart and will do the shorter one, too.
