Actually it was a rifle day for me as I shot 25-06, 270 Win, 308 Win, 243 and 30-06. I plan on reloading 270 win tomorrow and maybe some 25-06.

Next week I plan on loading some 45 acp and 9mm ammo for my next pistol outing.

Today I loaded some 158 gr LSWC 357s with 11.5 gr of 2400. I was impressed with the accuracy. I also loaded and shot some 44 specials in my 696 with 180 gr Hornady xtp and 7.8 gr of unique. This round is incredibly accurate and I wish it wasn't as the xtps cost a bit more than LSWC, but they seem to want to make one big clover leaf at 25 yards.

In response to the voting thread, I fired my .45 HK USP Tactical today. I am having fun getting used to the suppressor and this time of year not too many other shooters asking questions. I also shot my K-22, enjoying that little thing more and more as time goes by, now if I can just get my hands on a nice K-38 to match it.

I loaded some wimpy 45 Colt loads with a 200gr LRNFPHP.

They do look cool! :D

Well, I would like to let you know that these bullets are minute of "fruit punch jug" accurate at 100 yards!

Son #2 and I were at the range last night and he was shooting his rifles on the long range so I set up over there too. Now, not every time mind you, could I hit the gallon jug at that distance using a sandbag but enough times that I didn't wanna exchange places with it! It was cool and he was impressed! (I was surprised, that's what I was! ;) )

Fun evening anyway. Father/son time.

Gonna load some 30-30, 30-06, 40 S&W, and 45 acp as soon as the lube dries. Maybe even a few 410 slugs and 44 mag.

Shot 52 gr. Fowler match bullets out of a Sako Vixen 222 Remington and a Remington 700 in 22-250 Ackley. Sighting the rifles in to play AT&T with some coyotes.

Shot 183 rounds of 32 H&R Mag
Shot 180 rounds of 38 Special
Shot 200 rounds of 357 Mag

My busiest day at the range. All brass cleaned and prepped for future loading. Switched to revolvers to better contain the brass.

I shoot revolvers 'cause I like to shoot them more! 'Course, I shoot them better, except for my PT1911, but, hey, we should like to do what we do! Right? ;)

Shot a bunch:
Model 586 4 inch, 100 rounds 358429 178 gr. 12/2400
Model 13-3 4 inch, 50 rounds various loads (new to me gun)
Model 19-4 6 inch, 50 rounds various, alo new gun to me.
Model 29-3 4 inch, 100 rounds mostly 44 spl velocities and 25 rounds of 1993 vintage 240 HP RP jacketed over 23/296.

Have all been cleaned and put away and I'm soaking my throat in Irish whisky to celebrate. Knee deep in empties..Yeah!

Besides some 22's, shot two vintage 32SWL revolvers, and a pre-model 10 NYPD 38, along with a J frame - lots of fun - the I frame 32 target pistol has basically zero recoil and is a tack driver - not bad for something about 85 years young!

Had some 44 Spl & 44 Mag cases ready to go so decided to try some of the Berry's 240 CPL-FP. put together 4 loads to try...
For the 44 Spl I used 6.5 Herco and 6.7 Unique
For the Mag I used 11.2 Herco and 10.6 Unique

I could only get a light crimp since they don't have a cannelure so I'm skeptical if I'll be using these again for 44. Will see how they chronograph when the weather warms a bit.

Yeah, I talked to my mom last night. She lives in Yuma and says it is almost unbearable there. 45*F at night and only 60*F something in the daytime!

Wowsers! Cold!

Yeah the low desert is warm isn't it.... up a little in elevation (like where I live) it has been in the low teens and 20's at night and mid to high 30's during the day. At least it's not Flagstaff !
But hey - I know I have no excuse - it's still sunny out and the roads are dry. :)

At least it's not Flagstaff !

People look at you crazy when you tell them it gets cold and snowy in Arizona!

We went through Flagstaff one summer. Stayed in a campground by a lake, St. Mary's I think, and the operator of the campground said that where our tent was, during December, there had been 3 feet of snow!

I remember the animal sign all around there too. Elk, deer. Lots of droppings, rubs and such. Pretty cool too!

I need to get back out to see my mom. Been a few years and neither one of us is getting any younger! ;)

.45 155 grain

Howdy,
I am freed up and the kitchen is tied up so I am loading a dose of these today before I start cooking for Christmas..

These are special out of my 25-2.
Thanks

Howdy

Hi Skip,
I have been working with the 25-2 to see if I could get as good as groups out of it, as say a 6" 586 or K-38.
Out of almost two dozen loads I have two that shoot pretty good.
This is one of them.
PC200062.jpg
This load shot a .75 five shot group at 25 yards.
I normally test with ten shot groups but only had five of these loaded.
I'm loading more today to test and be sure it was not a fluke.

The other best load is a 185 grain swaged bullet that put ten into a little less that t picture.1 3/4".
You can see the specific load data in the 1961-1980 revolver section.
http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-revolvers-1961-1980/191243-model-25-2-accuracy.html.
I need to shoot some at fifty yards too. It is a mild load.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Folks,
I got out and tested this load today. It did not hold up to a ten shot group, throwing seven into a inch but three fliers opened thing up to 2 1/2" .....Just OK.
Plus, they don't hold up at 50 yards.
Sorry.
Mike

I loaded up some Rim Rock 158 gr. LSWC-WN(357 loads) in front of 6.0 gr of Unique. The accuracy of this load impresses me(although not as impressive as the post above me) . Probably going shooting when it warms up in a couple days, assuming there is not too much snow to get to my winter shooting range.
