No range time on this eve. But instead loaded 42 grains of IMR 3031 and Moyers hard cast 405s sparked by Federal LR primers. Getting ready for the coming new BFR 7.5" and my great shooting Encore rifle.

124 gr Berry's Plated 9 mm HP over 3.8 gr of Titegroup.

New-to-me Remington primers are the ticket to solve the smearing problem I used to have with CCI. I'm guessing the problem was due to the mixed range brass, dirty charge holes and hard primers

I loaded some smoke poles! Took the wife, her pink accented Endeavor topped with a Nikon Omega scope, my Encore with the same glass and a full can of Blackhorn 209, some Hornady black sabots, Hornady .452" 250gr FTX bullets, some of my cast .452" boolits, and headed to the range.

I also did some "comparison" testing with Hornady green sabots and lead bullets just to see how the two compared.

Had a super hard time getting my gun to shoot well, hers came right into line.

Ran out of powder so now, I need to get another can of that stuff. One thing I could do that surprised me, run a second shot right down the full length of the barrel. Can't do that with the Triple 7 pellet loads I had shot to sight it in with open sights!

More to come!

I spent most of the morning at the range shooting an old 1911 .45 Government model, an old original 1911 version, US marked with 5 digit SN. Beauty of an older gun, fairly accurate too for its age. I wanted to get in one more day of working with this fine old pistol before the end of the year, seeing as how it's the 100th anniversary of the adoption of this pistol as the Army's sidearm. Fun day. Shot most of a .50 caliber can of ammo. Now I need to do some reloading.

Shot the "new" 14-3

Also shot the 25-15, 617 & 625JM all with their new Burris FastFire2red dot sights.

Loaded 100 rnds of .38 snubby practice loads--158LSWCHP over 2.7 grs Trailboss.
Also working up a standard pressure defense load for my alloy framed Colt snubbies--looking for around 750 fps with the 158gr LSWCHP (Speer)....trying 4.2.gr Unique and 4.5 gr Unique....down from 4.7 gr that is my standard defense load.Unique load data is all over the map so it takes some tweaking. Planning to shoot and chronograph them on Saturday.

took my soon to be brother in law to the range to show him how his fiancee's brother shoots.. shot my 9ve and 24/7 40.

oh and eddit..
about 150 rounds of reloaded 9mm 115 fmj, cant remember the powder charge, just range ammo tho.
and about 100 rounds of factory 40cal, federal.

Finally got around to setting up my dillon 650 for 45acp. Shot about 75 rounds to make sure it was a good load before I went into production.

Yesterday, I tried out my initial starting load of 10 rounds for 9mm.

Bullet: 115gr plated RN from Berry's.
Powder: 5gr. of Unique
Primer: CCI small pistol primers
OAL: 1.165"

All 10 rounds fired & ejected properly, and recoil was typical from what I experienced from my 5906.

Got the RCBS berdan depriming tool and some Tula 7.62 Berdan primers. In middle of loading up some 7.62x51 berdan cases to see if it is worth it. Got lots of saved berdan cases. Have about 50 cases prepped and primed, probably try some 748 in them.

Having never loaded up max power 44 mag 240 jhp, also did some of those with 296 and Hdy 240 xtp's. Next up in 44 mag will be 180 xtps with V V N110. Any suggestions certainly welcome.

Tried out the new carbide cutters RCBS makes for their power trimmer and case prep station. Much better than the steel versions, especially the case mouth inside/outside chamfering cutters

Yesterday I added powder and set bullets to finish up my first 300 rounds of .40 S&W. I had shot 10 rounds of same formula a few days earlier and they shot perfectly.

Bullet: 155gr Hornady XTP
Powder: 6grs of Universal
Primer: CCI SPP
OAL: 1.125"

Loaded up some 38 special 170gr Keith SWC's, to test new liquid lube formula, no leading, very little smoke, and carbon was removed with wet patch. It's still not perfect, but it's getting there. I had the formula down before but lost my notes!!!!!

First time reloading since 1997...loaded up 5 .44 specials with 240 gr Speer SWC over 4.7 gr HP38 to begin working up a .44 spl plinking/target load. Took 'em out to the desert and they all went bang! WooHoo! This is fun! Had to stop at 5 rounds as my sizing die started scratching cases (forgot about lubing cases for non-carbide dies) anyway, don't want to ruin any more of my precious .44 spl brass so I'm going to wait on that one until I get the die situation squared away...mmm...what to do , what to do...I do believe I have some .45 Colt components laying around here somewhere....
