Hi gang,

So I picked this up as part of a collection of guns I purchased but it doesn't appear to be in the Standard Catalog. Sorry for the wonky orientation, couldn't seem to fix it. Any ideas? Thanks!

Looks like it might have been a Jovino or Behlert built gun.

The factory 3" N frames all had a shorter ejector rod than that.

Does the other side of the barrel say "EFFECTOR" ?

Looks like a dandy carry magnum to me ;)

Other side of bbl. simply stamped 44 mag like my other 629-1

It looks like an early example of the product code 103610. Lew Horton had these made starting in the mid '80's. Taking delivery of about 6,200 over 3 or 4 years in several iterations of shipments. S&W also sold them direct, so not every one will be a LH.

Contact Lew Horton. If it is one of their guns they will send you a free "factory letter" with details and background on your revolver. Very nice to have, especially if you don't have the box or any other paper work. It provides you some provenance should you ever decide to sell.

Based on the s/n this gun likely shipped in the....
May to October 1985 time frame.
Prior to this the earliest 103610 I'd ever seen had a shipped in January of 1986. If you get a letter post the details (or a picture of it) in this thread.

What had me puzzled about that possibility is that it seems that all of those were supposed to have been unfluted?

Known Jovino Effector photos

Here is a photo of my 629-1 Jovino Effector.

Notice how long the ejector rod is compared to a factory built snub N frame of the same period (657 shown for comparison).

I think the good Col is mistaken.

And a few 657's (top center, right top & bottom) Notice the short ejector rod?

Good point. That is a different profile, and I should of spotted it. Would be nice if the OP had disclosed the barrel said "Effector". Quicker than a 20 Questions Game.

Pretty snarky. Doing my best--sorry for the inconvenience.

From the Sticky on what to provide for gun ID:

"S&W Revolvers: 1980 to the Present
Model number, serial number, finish, caliber, and barrel length are usually all you will need to post for information on a Model numbered gun."

And we still don't know if the barrel says "Effector" or not. What's that? Sixteen questions to go. [emoji6]

Already answered. See post 4. Why don't you just remove yourself from the thread if you're so annoyed or are you just being a jackwagon?
