What do I pick up first?

It's worse than you guys think. You need a pistol permit for each handgun purchased. Said permit is good for thirty days. If the local chief thinks your buying to many you just might not get the next permit. No, that's not legal. Yes, it does happen.

Delay in issuing permits, especially the first one is SOP in many departments.
Here's the form take it home fill it out.
Come back and get fingerprinted.
Oops, fingerprint man is out on a job, try next week.
The letters of reference have not come back yet.
The chief is on vacation.
Only one reference returned the inquiry.

Now this does not go on at all PD's but if you live in the wrong town, you're screwed.

Well, I hope not, but possibly coming soon to a state near you - viz., yours! I suppose this crackpot mentality will be a while in overtaking the whole country, but sometimes it seems inevitable. When I was a young man never in my wildest dreams did I think a day would come when I'd be ok with being sixty-something.

Getting back to the OP's question, well, since you have the 67 already, unless the Model 60 is needed for a carry piece, which I gather it is not, I'd go with the .45. They're a perfect afternoon-at-the-range gun. Shoot it for a couple hours and never suffer the slightest bit. :) Good luck with your new purchases. :)

I like 38 Special and 45 ACP (and lots of others).

If you are looking for instant gratification, pick up the 15 first! It will shoot the best.

If you are looking to improve your skills, go for the 60 first.

I have two model 15's along with several other K-frames and two J-Frame 38's. The 2" model 15 is much easier to master than a 2" J-frame.

My father-in-law has a first week production 60. It is his constant companion, even when he walked my bride down the aisle. You could see it tucked in his cummerbund. When my last kid got married, I had a J-frame in my pocket, so it's a family tradition, right?

Ivan

PS: I had two kids get married in New Jersey, No "Honor Guard" for them!

If there's no CC involved, the 60 would be last.
Toss up on the other two. I think I'd go with the 15 and lift weights while waiting for the .45.
Your real problem will be when you buy another one this week!

The gun Gods have answered....

I think fate has decided for me. At the local gun show this morning I found these two in the $10 box. I think the 45 magazine is an original 645 mag and the 9mm is for the 59(I have no use for this, yet:rolleyes:).
From what I've read it should work just fine in the 4506-1.
So 4506-1 first it is! Thanks for all your comments and suggestions so far. 1 down 2 (or more) to go.

You are so right! When I go to the gun shop tomorrow to do the NICS paperwork I am actually afraid to see what's new in the used showcase. As far as lifting weights, I still work as a pediatric nurse and my current client is 70 lbs plus. I'm lifting him all day long so I think I'm good. LOL :D

I went and did the NICS paperwork this morning. AND the magazine I bought yesterday fits the 4506-1 perfectly. Be another 3-4 days before I can pick it up.

You can get a MPE (Multiple Purchase Exemption) and pick-up all three at the same time. You will need three valid purchase permits in addition to the MPE. I have used MPE's several times - just an extra hoop or two to jump through - yes NJ sucks.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I wish I had known I was going to buy 3 handguns when I applied for my $25 per permits. Then I would have checked the multiple purchase box. I just put in for the other 2 permits. Live and Learn.
It indeed has its drawbacks but it is home, sweet corn, home.

You can apply for an MPE at anytime, exclusive of permits or in addition to permits. I don't know how quick your local PD is, but you want to make sure that you get the MPE before your permits expire.

The NJSP do seem to be slower lately. My PD is exceedingly quick - they usually notify me of approval before the NJSP do. Used to take about two weeks from application to permit-in-hand. Now it's taking more than a month.

What a clusterf**k it is going to be when the courts declare the $23 per permit price increase unconstitutional and the PD's will have to refund that amount to all those that got permits while the increase was enforced.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

My PD takes about 4 weeks. When my next two permits are approved I'll email them and find out if I can get a MPE for the last two handguns. Thanks Pizza Bob!

Is there a glimmer of hope that your state association has a chance to restore your 2nd Amendment rights so you won't have to make similar decisions?

I could not live in a state like that, no matter how many friends and relatives lived there. I'm sure the harassment over guns is not the only thing they violate your rights over.

Everyone has to decide for themselves what rights they are willing to surrender for the " privilege " of living in places like that.
